Maryland has a great history of Rifleman, and the students appear to be carrying on that tradition.. MD Shooters have a very good success rate, so far, in our infancy with the Appleseed Project... While EVERY Rifleman is a success story, once in awhile, we run across a student who is SO successful, it provides an extra "spark" of excitement to the instructors, who tell the story to anyone who will listen..  It's time to start we start a thread to highlight these stories, so they don't fade into the memory hole.

ELIZABETH-  January 2011
It was a bitter cold, snowy weekend.. The line was full and included a group of Boy Scouts, some other youngsters, and a young lady, maybe 10 yrs old,  Elizabeth, who was there with the family group. While she was an attentive student Sat, you could kinda tell, she wasn't quite fully into it, had never shot before, but was being a good sport nonetheless..
On Sunday, she received more individualized coaching, and started to show some success.. THEN, around 1PM on Sunday, the light bulb went on.. She saw that she could DO IT.. and it was game on! By the end of the day, she had made Rifleman in convincing fashion, surpassing the other kids, by leaps and bounds, scoring Rifleman, numerous times.. Witnessing her go from zero to 100 within a short period on Sunday, was truly inspiring to witness. The pride on her face when she received her Rifleman patch was a sight to behold..

MISSY & CHRIS  November 2011

This mother and son team was a duo of first time shooters with ZERO experience prior to Appleseed. Missy, an outgoing person who is full of life, doesn't shy from a challenge, and is the kind of person you just want to be around. Her son Chris, is a quiet, polite young adult. Using loaner gear, both applied themselves 100% and proved themselves to be absolute naturals at shooting. Both scored Rifleman on EVERY AQT they shot. Not only that, but this team has been at every shoot we've held since, becoming regulars on our line, shooting Rifleman scores at every opportunity (barring any malfunctions of course)...  Just to paint a final picture, at a recent Appleseed, Missy scored a 209 with seven misses, due to a malfunction! I'll let you do the math on that one..

We'll look forward to adding to this thread over time, as the stories of success thru self improvement, continue to roll in. This is VERY satisfying to witness and reinforces the priviledge of being a be a part of this program..  BeSwift
