Hello fellow Veterans, Thank you for your service!  I'm a NSC Disabled Vet trying to get by without the annual COLA, with none in sight for another two years.  As a result of this and being a PVA Representative, I've searched out discounts for our members; the following businesses either have a formal, or 'up to the store manger' type discount policy.  Generally disabled vets discounts are extended 'military' discounts.  Your VA Card is usually all that's required to get the discounts.  As always, check with the store's manager before checking out.

Businesses

Home Depot: 10% Discount on special holidays of military origins. See reply #3;  HD appears to have made the 10% permanent.  Update 10/25/11- the 10% is permanent!  As always, ask first just to make sure- there's always someone that didn't get the memo.

Lowe's: 10% anytime.  This is not generally promoted, and most folks that aren't management are not aware of this offering, so check with the store manger first.

Pep Boys: (Western States) 5%- varies store to store, so check with the store manger first.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you know of any national businesses that offer discounts to disabled vets, please feel free to post them here or PM me, and I'll add hem once verified.

Arizona Rifle & Pistol Shooters-  A hidden gem at the Scottsdale Gun Club 14860 N Northsight Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480) 348-1111.  I inquired about PVA members and Disabled Vets discounts, they will discount from 10% up to free [Indoor] Range time, which they did for me.  The range covers every type small arm from pistol to rifles and full autos- all of which you can rent or bring your own.  They also discount same as mentioned for Veterans and Active Duty.  Give 'em a call!

Nevada Travelers Las Vegas bound:  several hidden gems are in the area.

If you are headed to the Clark County Shooting Park (CCSP), check out the Guns & Grub CafĂ©.  Managed by Carmine who is quite adept at feeding hungry competitors, the food is great and won't cut into your ammo funds.

Down the street, literally (road & elevation wise) is the Aliante Station Hotel & Casino (800) 678-2846.  They are Off Strip, and the staff is world class.  Their Handicapped rooms beat 99% of what is currently available.  Special needs like cooling vests getting frozen each night?  Or just a portable refrigerator for medications?  No Problems, if the room doesn't have one, let 'em know and it will appear by the time you get off the phone to make the request.

Need a wheelchair van?  Give Tammy or Rich at Better Life Mobility a call at (702) 876-4366.  These folks are a plesaure to deal with, and PVA Members get a discount, too.

My local Home Depot gives a 10% discount for disabled vets on everything, all the time.

Thanks, this appears to be chain wide now.  dr144

Updated March 25, 2012
They seem to have changed the overall policy for Disabled Vets, now your VA Card has to show a SC Disability, i.e. the card must state Service Connection (SC). dr144

Check with your cell phone carrier.  Many times they will offer you a nice discount off your monthly rate plan (and possibly accessories also)    O0that they may not outright advertise.  Here is a link I came across online:

http://www.bradsdeals.com/blog/2011/08/05/employee-cell-phone-discounts-verizon-att-sprint/

From what I read, AT&T and Sprint offer military discounts.  I didn't see any from Verizon, but they may have changed.  It doesn't specify whether or not this is for active/retired, etc (in my opinion, it shouldn't matter)... definetely worth checking out!   O0

Barbie, Thanks for the lead & post.  Your URL posted also leads to other sites that offer discounts as well.  Thanks again, Tom

Indiana Appleseed:  Farm Bred, Brass Fed

Lord make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true, and my hands faster than those who would seek to destroy me.  Grant me victory over my foes, and those  that wish to do harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be if I only had my Gun; and Lord if today is truly the day that you take me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass.
