If you have 1970s Ruger 10/22 receiver you may find that a COMPETITION Power Custom Extended Bolt Handle will not fit. It will bind the bolt so it does not move, any MFGs bolt handle that does not have this groove will be a no go in this generation receiver.

I contacted the mfg and Randall Powers the owner emailed back within an hour and even called me. Once I showed him the photos he understood the problem, and said they would send me one that worked. Great People to deal with, great customer service. I will be a customer a long time.

P.S. I received the handle from Mr Powers and it works perfectly. I had only requested the actual handle and he sent me the whole assemble guide rod, spring and handle Power Custom #: 1022-TEBHA. Amazing, in this day and age. He certainly EARNED my future business.

Yes, they are great people.  Met them all last year.  As instructors, we get a 10% discount also  O0 O0 O0

I hope mine are okay for the new 10/22s I just purchased .  The new (used)  Ruger's were in excellent, like new condition so, of course I had to swap out a few trigger group items and since I really like PCs titanium and SS extended bolt handle, I put one of them in there too.  Haven't shot them yet.  Am planning to do so on Sat. in Clinton at the instructor get together.  The spring is much longer so it is tricky to get into place but I've done it so much now, that it's not too bad.  Just need a third hand sometimes.   **)

Here is the item: Titanium or Stainless Extended Bolt Handle

If you send me a PM, I'll tell you the code to get the AS Instructor discount.  That goes for any other instructor who reads this.

Thanks!

That vintage of receiver is know as a railed receiver. No current aftermarket handle is relieved for this type of receiver.
PLEASE DON'T STROKE THE EGO.

Finn, would you attach a picture so I can see what you mean?  I am having my doubts that I can use the extended bolt handle on the pre 1969 10/22 I just got.  When I dry fire, it seems to work okay.

If you're coming down to Clinton, would you bring the rifle to show me?
Thanks.

I rather dislike the standard bolt handle.  How's the reputation for beefed up replacements in general; do they affect reliability at all?  The increase in inertia is what gives me pause, but this might be an over reaction.

My VQ bolt handle works great, never had much issues with it.
