Just a short stop on the road to get this started.

Great venue. Thanks go to Redwood Gun Club for hosting this event.

Great People!!! Thanks to all who came out to soak up some Heritage and learn the skills of markmanship. You are what makes this program grow.

My personal Thanks to the New IITs!!! for stepping up and helping out at this event. Great job, you will be an asset to the program.

Special Thanks to HM for his seventh step work in making this a successful location.

I will put up the stats later.

Please post about your experiences.

I had a blast these past two days.  Johnnyappleseed was running the whole show himself on the first morning, and after the first square target, he mentioned that my group indicated that I was skilled enough to instruct.  I said I planned on asking for the orange hat.  Before I even knew what happened, I was calling and clearing the line, and on my way to being an instructor.  My fiancĂ©, APEX, asked for her orange hat at the end of the first day, and today, she was calling the line, while Johnny and myself cleared.

We got exposed to some new things and learned a lot of things that we wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn had we not volunteered.  The best part was that we had a lot of fun, and we got to watch a group of shooters grow remarkably in their skills.

We had one new rifleman on the first day.  Congratulations Weston!  We (and the founding fathers) are proud of you.

Chu shot frustratingly close to rifleman on the second day, a 206.  We hope to see you back at the next shoot.

Everyone had some improvement from the first morning.  Some peoples groups and scores fluctuated (it got a little warm in the afternoons, and lunch can make us a bit tired) but everyone learned a great deal, and everyone showed great potential.  I loved the tremendous enthusiasm that everyone had, it really made it enjoyable.

I'm really looking forward to assisting at the next shoot, and I'm hoping to see some familiar faces there.

APEX

This appleseed was so much fun. I had come out to shoot and become reacquainted  with the shooting positions I had learned at the last Appleseed Shoot I attended. I ended up asking to be an IIT after the shoot was done on Saturday. Calling out the line commands and courses of fire really helped to cement the information in my mind. I really enjoy how inclusive the Appleseed Shoot is, in that everyone has a chance to learn these lessons, score rifleman, and be able to pass it on to someone else themselves.

I especially like the stories that were told at lunchtime and throughout the day. The instructor also made the history portions interactive, by giving everyone in the group an RWVA playing card to read aloud to the rest of us. We each also got to read a quote aloud, which really helped to put in perspective the risks and values of the people who provided us with the nation we have today!

It was a whole different experience to be watching the line from behind & being able to help people with the same difficulties that I had on my journey to making the rifleman score. Well, I am still on that journey, and plan to continue practicing at home, all of the positions and lessons I have learned.

Hopefully, next time I will see everyone there again, and perhaps we will all bring along another friend, to introduce to this great experience.

APEX and Tythagoras Welcome!! Thanks for stepping up and taking the orange hat. Looking forward to meeting you on the trail.

Great posts, Thanks for the added info.

Thanks JA for stepping up and going north. Sounds like a fabulous event. I am sorry I had to miss it.

Congratulations to Weston on the Rifleman score ... as far as for Chu you will get it done next time.

This was an excellent event! Even though I didn't make rifleman I learned a great deal more about marksmanship. I shot 136 on my first AQT but my score rose consistently until the end of the weekend. I know that I'll be able to qualify the next time around.

I'm very thankful to Johnnyappleseed taking time out of his life to come teach us the history of our country as well as the excellent marksmanship training. I will definitely help as many people attain rifleman as I possible can.

Well done to the patriots of Eureka, and congrats to the new rifleman and orange hats!  O0  We hope to get up there for a future shoot - love the North coast!

JA -- glad to see you're still on the trail, and willing to take on the tough ones by yourself when duty calls.  I guess the old Marine/AS spirit is impossible to beat.  Anyway, good on ya, and keep producing those Riflemen.  Hope to see you sometime this year.

O.F thank you for your kind words. Looking forward to our next shoot  ;)

It was an pleasure and an honor to have worked with such a fine group of Americans.
As usual my notes are not so good .

Apex did a great job framing and presenting "The wedding that never was"

I wonder what the round count was? I would bet Chu would know  ;D

I personally sent 392 rounds down range. It hurt the pocketbook a little bit, but the weekend was worth every penny.

A great thank you to Johnny Appleseed for traveling a far piece to impart great knowledge.  What a special treat it was to meet everyone who participated and experience a weekend with like minded people.

I learned a lot over the weekend, especially about my own abilities to learn new skills.  My first AQT was a score of 36.  My fifth AQT scored 150!  I also made several functional mistakes with the hardware and only sent 373 rounds to my targets.  I had 19 misfires (PEBKAC Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair).  Troubleshooting these issues provided complete correction by the second day!  I plan to attend Appleseed again in September.  My goal is to make Rifleman!
