"On April 19, 1775 "The Shot Heard 'Round the World" was fired on the Green in Lexington, Massachusetts.

On that day, a mere 60-70 of Lexington's Minutemen had assembled on the Green and faced 800 British troops. Captain Parker of the Lexington Militia, told his men, "Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon. But if they want to have war, let it begin here."

The British demanded they lay down their arms and disperse. When the men, would not lay down their arms, an incensed British officer fired his pistol at the Minutemen, immediately followed by a full volley by the British troops, and the rest is history - America's History." From the Educated Patriot.

Fast forward to the present. 236 years later and 2716 miles west.

14 patriots gathered under the blue skies of Nevada.

The temperature was 95 degrees. A beautiful spring day in the Mohave desert.

Familiar faces, new faces, families, young and old gathered to spend a weekend learning the skills and stories of those who sacrificed for us.

Marksmanship skills were taught.

The history was shared.

Our voices were added to the chorus of the  Liberty Volley.

The presentation of the "Wedding that never was" evoked an emotional response.

Redcoats were shot and scores improved all weekend.

Parker got his Revenge in the inaugural Parker's Revenge drill. This really brought out the competitive spirit in the students.

Jack and Trevor persisted and keep up with the adults and earned Luther Blanchard patches.

And the other Jack demonstrated that he was man who knew very much what he was about by earning his Rifleman's patch.

The seed of rifle marksmanship was sown in good soil.

And the heritage of our founders were honored by remembering.

Pictures to follow.

One Man awake, Awakens another. The second awakens  His next-door brother.
The three awake can rouse a town. By turning the whole place upside down.

The many awake can make such a fuss. It finally awakens the rest of us.

This was an AWESOME shoot!  It was great to see families out on the line working together and sharing in the heritage.  I do believe that most of them are addicted now..... :)
I think this is one of the most diverse turnouts we have ever seen.  Our youngest shooter was 10 and the oldest was 60+ easily.  Persistence was a common quality on the line, and everyone gave it their all.
Kudos to Jacksdad, who increased his score by 30+ points on the last AQT of the day, earning him a rifleman patch with a score of 217! O0 ;D :cool2:
Over the weekend, we also asked A LOT of questions over the instruction and the history for the shooters to answer to earn raffle tickets.  Congrats to Barry, who earned a copy of Paul Revere's Ride, and Patti for the playing cards.
April won the TV challenge and  received a pocket constitution.
Jason and George won oval patches for winning the team event of Parker's Revenge.
Again, it was a great shoot, it's nice to see the 7th stepping paying off  :D ;D
Thanks to everyone who came out, we had a blast!
