Criticism is the only known antidote to error.  David Brin

What a nation has done, a nation can aspire to.
Dr. Jerry Pournelle

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck."

I got this email from Turners Outdoorsman which is a gun shop/sporting goods chain here in CA. They were one of the sponsors for the Corona 210. They donated 2 LTR's to be given away as door prizes. Now they have some bigger ideas......

Well, that was one awesome weekend. You, Cam and Mr. Pete and the rest of your crew put on one heck of a great event. You can count us in for this shoot year after year but more so, we need to talk about doing something with the local monthly events. We are putting together some ideas for featuring different So Cal ranges throughout the year and it seems like everyone we'd feature is doing an Appleseed each month.

Thank you again for having us on board with  this awesome event; we appreciate it.

Check out his Sunday afternoon targets:

I think there is a rifleman's patch in that blogger's future.  Thanks for the great writeup, Chip.  It was a pleasure working with you as a shooter.

The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

"Unhappy it is, though, to reflect that a brother's sword has been sheathed in a brother's breast and that the once-happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by a race of slaves.  Sad alternative!  But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?" - George Washington - from a letter to a close friend after the events of April 19, 1775

"There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our (the United States) overthrow.  Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter.  From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger.  I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." - Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837

Thanks for letting us know you had permission to post it.  Do you know if we have permission to use it for other promotional opportunities, i.e, link to it on AS homepage, post it on FB page, etc.

While not AARs, this may be the place to point out the increasing number of "mentions" of Appleseed on wikipedia, including one item on AS, itself:

     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Appleseed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksman: "One of the newest and currently the fastest growing marksmanship programs in North America is the Appleseed Project which was developed by the Revolutionary War Veterans Association."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stinson,_West_Virginia: "In 2009, Stinson became the location of West Virginia's first Dedicated Appleseed Range (DAR). A DAR is a location where year round Revolutionary War Veterans Assoc. (RWVA) events are held to instruct citizens in rifle marksmanship and American Heritage. This venue brings an influx of people from other parts of WV and surrounding states, which injects some welcome revenue and gives exposure to this under served area."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle: "Today, .22 LR is mainly being used for hunting small pests, for sports shooting, for plinking, and for inexpensive training. The .22 LR is the choice for several shooting events: Bullseye, plus divisions of metallic silhouette and pin shooting, most high school, collegiate, Boy Scouts of America, Appleseed Project, 4H shooting events, and many others. "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Davis_(soldier): "Representing [Isaac] Davis, the statue of "The Minute Man" with a musket in one hand and the other resting on a plow remains an iconic symbol,[26] and can be found on the Massachusetts state quarter, corporate logos, The Revolutionary War Veterans Association - Project Appleseed, and the seal of the National Guard of the United States."

Not an AAR but.... There's a new (newer, just over 500 members) forum out there called www.bumpfire.net

They have a permalink to Appleseed at the bottom of every page.

All are encouraged to sign up and do some promoting.  O0

Stephen has been a real crusader for Appleseed bringing many people to the line. For our recent Ladyseed he was responsible for getting four people to the event.

We are so pleased that he has joined the Appleseed team. He will be a great instructor with his gentle, encouraging teaching style and smiles for everyone.

This is a little old, but it's how I first hear about Appleseed: http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/episode-396-an-interview-with-michael-adam-of-the-appleseed-project

What are the chances we could pester Tom Gresham to interview somebody?  (I've been doing it already, but some support would help!)

I didn't see a modify option... Tom is the host of Gun talk - the only nation wide radio show about guns (Sunday 2-5 eastern).  That would be some great publicity!
