Is it just me or is it the COOLEST thing in the world to get an AAR from the guy we just watched shooting on the show?  I hope we get 13 more AARs from Jamie. Keep going, brother!

It ain't just you Log; that is SWEET!!!  Hearing from a true American Hero (while he's serving in Afghanistan, mind you) right after he was just aired on TV is amazing.

Oh, and that's one purty looking patch you're rockin' there. :cool2:

Keep it up Jamie! O0

You also won the $2,000 gift card from Bass Pro Shops, right???    O0

Sheesh, If I were on the show, I might just go to the elimination round every time!!!!  And win it, preferably!!!

Alright guys - thanks for the continued support! I'M SOOO GLAD MY RIFLEMAN "PRODUCT PLACEMENT" WORKED OUT!!! Hopefully you'll see me actually wearing it later, too.

...I absolutely hate to make excuses for poor shooting. 99% of the time, the weakest link with any weapon system is the shooter.

That being said - I hated that Colt Police Positive!!! We each had our own seperate pistols, and every single one of them shot differently, and NONE of them shot straight. These were not reproduction pistols - these pistols were actually from the 1920's and they were all worn out! ...I think mine must have been recovered from the Titanic!

The first team challenge with the billiard balls - I think I just choked. I was extremely nervous. The Prohibition Challenge - as lame as it sounds, I have to blame that gun.

I ran up, loaded my pistol (having dadged all paintballs), lined up on the first bottle, squeezed the trigger. I saw my shot go left. Now - with a right-handed shooter it's a common trigger pull error to "push" your shot to the left. I assumed the error was ME. So for the 2nd target, I lined up my sights the same, concentrated on a good trigger pull, and the shot still went left. Then I realized that it was the gun - not me. So for the last shot, I compensated to the right, and fired on the 3rd target, and I hit a little high of the explosive bullseye.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Police_Positive

If you look at the Colt Police Positive, the front sight is a tall half-moon blade, the rear sight is a V-shaped groove cut into the top of the receiver. So for a proper sight alignment, you have to sink the front sight abnormally low. Everything about it feels wrong. This is what accounts for my last shot being too high...

BUT - Excuses are like buttholes, and I (rightfully) went to the elinimation challenge, and wrecked shop with the Thompson!!!

I swear - I don't really suck this bad! Just keep watching!!!!

Finally got to watch a rerun of the show last night and enjoyed it (sorry, Fred, I was on the couch).

Looking forward to the next one featuring an event with the M1A.

Please take every opportunity to "school" both the shooters and the folks running the show about shooting.  After watching the first 2 episodes I'm amazed at the comments some folks (who are supposed to be experienced professionals) are making about both guns and shooting.

Just too let some of you know...this was taped long ago ..so theres no chance of Jamie tell them anything "but he did if you look close he plugged where he could"..Its over and He's back to saving lives in the Navy...But belive me The producers know who we are ....I have had a chance to share with seasons one Losers or at least the ones that want to get better at rifle shooting...Dont be suprised if you see a end of the shows bringem back to shoot again kinda deal like they do with survior tv shows. And from what I hear a few want one more crack at it...

One last piont to I have talked to alot of folks that either were asked or just got refused to appear...They dont want to many Real shooters that know just what they are about..It wont make for good TV remeber its a show and its about ratings and Drama....Im sure Jamie will share with us the behind the sceen's stuff he did know about after all the lawayers are paid and he's off the Grid..But that doesnt mean we as a team shouldnt keep trying to get a casting call....Fred would enjoy that for sure..And NO I wont try it Ive got to many steel rods but boy if I didnt I would ...

Well enjoy the show and look for the 3rd and 4 th seasons of the show its going to be good....Just keep in mind its tv and we all know what that means Drama and more Drama...Now  if I can get Mike Friend to spill the beans ..He was the Tommy gun Instructor..I shoot with him every year at oklahomafullauto.com  ..And he's got some cool toys  Oh Mike your busted..

Looks like he's going to end up with one another one in the next few weeks - George really seems to have it in for him. If Jamie keeps going at this rate, he won't need the $100k grand prize - he'll just have to do all his shopping at Bass Pro Shops!!

The nice thing about watching this unfold is seeing that Jamie has remained a gentleman while staying competitive and helping move his team forward. The other guys - not so much. Jamie is "winning the hearts and minds" out there.

I agree.  I really try to avoid the drama stuff on these shows, but some of those guys just REALLY rub me the wrong way.  Sure, there could be factors we didnt see due to editing, but yeah, that one guy just really seems to have a stick up his bum and whats more seems like he prefers it.  I dunno, well see, but Jaimie is holding his own so far.

No sweat.
This show is an entertainment product.
The producers want a larger audience so they use "Survivor" style interpersonal drama as a "jeopardy" element in every episode.
If its a fair contest, though, all that matters is who can make the shots.
At least he's collecting BassPro cards, which means that so far, Jaime has actually netted more coin from this show than any other entrant, right?   O0

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't posted up in a while. I've been traveling home from Afghanistan (I am back home now) and trying to get my body back on schedule with the Western Hemisphere.

Thanks very much for all the continued support. I was especially proud of my showing with the 1911, and the Razorcat Race Gun. Not too shabby with the compound bow, and the tomahawk, either!

All of the drama between George and I is a little bit rediculous, and a little out of proportion, I think. All of us on the Red Team got along great 95% of the time, and were always respectful and friendly with each other. Me and Gunny, and Me and Chris Reed especially got along well. The editors have to cram 72 hours into 43 mintues of air time, and they cut it to create the atmosphere that they want to portray. At one point the producers told us that we were making them sick because we were all getting along so well, and not trash talking enough.

None of the competition or contestant interaction is scrpited. The only things that were scripted were some of the promo stuff we did for History (that I haven't seen aired yet).

Although nothing was scripted, sometimes during our interviews they would try to steer you towards something that they wanted you to say. For example: there were many interviews where they tried to get me to talk trash about George, and tried to steer me towards saying that he was singling me out, and picking on me, and that I was sick of it, etc.

I never wanted to say those things because - #1: I didn't want to sound like I was whining and crying, #2: I guess I'm incredibly naive because George and I got along pretty well 90% of the time. There was no way I could have known about him talking so much crap behind closed doors... I actually went so far as to defend George a few times when they (the producers) were trying to get me to call him out.

I didn't dislike George, and tried to be his friend, and we still keep in touch a little bit through FaceBook. George does have the skills to pay the bills when it comes to long range shooting, and there is A TON that I would like to learn from him. He definitely knows what he's doing and what he's talking about. His career field is Military Police, and he is qualified as a USAF Security Forces Counter-Sniper.
*BUT* he has attended the Army Sniper School (Bravo-4), and the USMC Scout Sniper Course, in addition to several Law Enforcement SWAT Sniper / Counter-Sniper courses. He has won numerous sniper competitons in the U.S. including the all-military "Top Sniper" competition in 2009. To win that competition he (and his spotter) made an 1800 yard shot on the first attempt. There are not many people in the whole world that could hit a man-sized target at 1800 yards with 1 shot.

I really tried as hard as I could to stay above the drama, and I wanted to represent THE ENTIRE US Navy with honor and integrity. It wasn't my goal to make friends, but I certainly didn't want to make enemies either. I was having fun, trying to shoot well, trying to be a stand-up guy, and make the most out of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Having been "ineffectively" taught to the Rifleman Standard and having been "ineffectively" taught to teach others to the Rifleman Standard, I believe I prefer the "ineffective" over the other choice.

First off, Welcome back home!!
The 2 things you mentioned..  Honor and Integrity...  are things that no uber elite school either military or civilian can teach you.  You either have them or you do not and are far more valuable in my book than the ability to make a long range hit in a single shot.  You, sir are remarkable as you possess both the skills and the Honor and Integrity and I am proud to have you in our ranks.
One very notable thing about the Appleseed program that you will notice is that it is not about any single person being the best shot which they can be.    At the end of the day it is about how many lives you have touched and how many people you have inspired with the history you have presented them.  The fact that you have planted the seed of marksmanship and given them a skill set which will help them for the rest of their lives whether they are hunting, punching paper, etc is simply a bonus.  You will find plenty of criticism directed at the Appleseed methods of teaching marksmanship and plenty of opinions regarding how we should be doing things differently but our formula works as is evident by the growth we have had and the majority of the feedback we are given by students which is overwhelmingly positive.  The smile on the face of a 10 year old child who just made solid hits at 100 yards with their .22 is some pretty solid positive feedback.
I am very pleased that you are part of our program and hope to see you on the trail...

Well said Jamie. And welcome back, hope all is going well with your post deployment wind down. I hope you're aware there are some upcoming shoots here in the greater San Diego area, we would love to see you at them. Maybe get you started down that path towards a red had.

Imma keep rooting for ya man. Ya, I thought the whole George thing was outta proportion. Oh well. Question...from what you have heard, what is the best sniper school? Please, try not to be bias  ;). My friend's life goal is becoming a Navy Seal, and i don't think I wanna do that. I want to be a sniper, and I'm struggling to find out which branch is the best training for snipers. Any advice? My plan so far is to go through ROTC with the Marines, take some required sniper classes in college, and then go from there. However, becoming a SEAL is not out of the question. I'm athletic enough to do it and have the will to not quit from what I start. I'm 16 btw. Anybody have any advice?

The standard by which ALL MILITARY SNIPERS are judged is the USMC Scout Sniper School. If you can, try to watch the Scout Sniper episode of "Surviving the Cut".

SEAL Snipers are great at what they do, but they now have their own Naval Special Warfare Sniper Course. Which, of course, you have to have already complteted BUD/S Training, and SQT, and at least 1 deployment on a SEAL Platoon before you can apply for the NSW Sniper Course. That is a very long, very difficult road to travel before you are eligible to attempt to become sniper qualified, and that is the ONLY way to trully become a sniper in the US Navy.

If you join the Army, or the Marines, you can pick up sniper school pretty early in your career. You would have to talk to recruiters from those branches of service to find out which career fields are eligible to apply for Sniper training. Just be careful. Some recruiters will tell you anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. Try to talk to actual Sniper qualified Soldiers and Marines, if you can. The AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit) is often used as a recruiting tool, and a lot of those guys are snipers. Maybe try to contact them.

But if it was my ultimate goal to become a sniper, I would lean toward the USMC Scout Sniper School.

I attend a Christian private school that is super tough  ~~:), and everyone is required to take Latin from 4-10 grade. I also have also (somewhat) learned Spanish, and am now studying Italian for when I go to Europe over the summer. And history is my favorite subject, as those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. And I am currently taking Trig, and I am loving it. I'm a math guy. ::)  Judo? you got me on that one. I don't even know what that is. also, I am looking forward to becoming an instructor, but I need to raise some more money for when I go to europe this summer, and than I will jump onboard the appleseed train. I dont get into all the drama stuff, but it just seems like the guys that annoy me are the ones that keep sticking around.

Jay is the type of person that just irritates the living piss outta me.  Talk about lack of a teachable attitude!

All well, good shootin Jaimie, that looked like fun.

TN_Dadx5

I just got finished watching the latest episode and Jaime knocked Jay out.  My entire family is rooting for Jaime.  We like to watch the episodes "On Demand" so we can fast forward through the bull  and get to the shooting.  I'm glad to know that the BS is just that. Being prior military myself I hate to hear trash talk from soldiers, especially about other brothers-in-arms.

Jaime, you have all of Project Appleseed and at least one family in middle TN pulling for you.  We know it's all finished, but we're still hoping to see you as the last man standing.

This was the most entertaining episode so far.

I was surprised to learn that the contestants could drop the `f bomb' when doing the inter-segment smack talk...sorta makes me wonder whether some or all of that noise is staged by the producers.  What would the upside be from alienating the entire Navy?  ++)

BTW, good shooting Jamie!
