I utilized the sling. We had 1 minute to shoot 10 shots at 150 yards - any position you wanted. So that was straight out of the Appleseed. I shot from a good prone position, using the sling. The guys I was shooting beside did not. I made it on to the show. Neither of those guys did...

Bout says it all right there.  ;)

Well Done Jamie! You make us proud.  O0

Good deal man.  I'll be looking for ya on there.  I watched the full last season, but grudgingly.  It had way more drama than I would have liked, or perhaps way less on-air shooting (im sure yall shot alot more than we see after editing).  But I will watch it this time around because one of the family is on there! :)

Hope you did well!

Jamie:  Thank you for your service in helping to protect and defend our country!  I have run a small, very successful restaurant for nearly 24 years now.  All of our successes and the good lives we have are due in part to brave men and women like you, who dedicate their lives to our country.  Without people like you, we would not have the freedoms that allow us to have the opportunity to prosper!  Thanks again.  I am a brand new instructor in training, attending a IBC in Lincoln, NE on Jan 29th & 30th.  My best score so far was a 222 at my 1 Appleseed shoot so far. Not too bad for an old man!   ;)  I plan on doing better and look forward to helping train more people, including my Grandson!  I have watched Top Shot in the past and will Tivo the show in order not to miss it.  Good luck and good shooting!

Once I had been selected as a semi-finalist, and had to go to Los Angeles and do the final-casting tryout, one of the rifles they had us shoot had a sling on it, and it was up to you whether or not you used it. Of course - as any good Rifleman would - I utilized the sling. We had 1 minute to shoot 10 shots at 150 yards - any position you wanted. So that was straight out of the Appleseed. I shot from a good prone position, using the sling. The guys I was shooting beside did not. I made it on to the show. Neither of those guys did...

This needs to be mentioned at every Appleseed Shoot...

This is a great selling point for promo events, Gun Shows, Cabela's, etc.

Perhaps some kind of Promo Flyer can be made up featuring Jamie/Top Shot?

We (me & Appleseed) are going to work on this when I get home from Afghanistan. I have to get History Channel's permission for that. I am also going to try to go on 'Rifleman Radio' when I get home too. So we'll see.

I got off to a bit of a slow start, but it gets better. Stay tuned and keep the faith! Thanks for all the support, guys and gals!  8)

Hey folks, let's be careful here.
I'm guessing that Jamie has signed an Agreement which strictly controls Jaimie's use of the History Channel's Intellectual Property, and we should be patient with him as he consults with them for the permissions (meaning that its premature to proceed with promos & flyers).

He's also had to sign bloodthirsty agreements to not disclose anything before it gets aired, so no asking him how he did overall and no asking what other types of weapons he got to shoot.

He can't tell us until AFTER it gets aired.

Which doesn't stop ME from saying that I hope you kicked some serious butt, Jamie! I can be patient and wait to see it, though.

I suppose it would be fruitless to try and extract the info from him! :-X
A retro-active good luck!  And a pro-active good job!

Now, if only I could find a way to watch the show. :'(

Ah, yes. The difference between television Reality Shows and Appleseed is RWVA really wants you to shoot better and TV just wants the attention of the audience for commercial interruptions. I hope you did well there, and really hope your tour in Afghanistan is great.  Speaking of commercial interruptions I think Appleseed doesn't need the head nod from Top Shot, we can stand on our own, and the better we produce shooters and citizens the less likely Hollywood or other parts of LA will want us around. Are we having any Southern California Appleseeds?

Not that Top Shot wants my opinion, if they want the shoot off, fine. Then allow all the shooters to compete on the same targets with the same firearms. And you could have that not recorded - or save it for the SPECIAL additions on the DVD. More shooting less shoving and shouting would make a better show. But I am hibernating what would I know?
... to catch the fire in another American for sharing the skills and our heritage to our posterity. Maybe my perfect shots will be made by those I met along the trials and trails of Appleseed. I know that America is a nation of Riflemen.

FYI for those who don't get the history channel you can watch the show on Hulu.com for free. Enter Top Shot  and search it will take you to Season two, Episode: one.

Did anyone catch the AS Rifleman patch in last night's episode?  I spied it on a coat/shirt that Jamie was packing into his bag before the elimination challenge.  O0

It was his coat. Here's the screen shot from about 36mins in (without commercials) when he was folding it just perfect so the patch was on top.  ^:)^

My wife and I both let out a whoop when we saw Jamie's Rifleman patch. And again when he beat Athena! Way to go, Jamie - nice to see that aimed fire in cadence beats out spray and pray.

Alright guys - thanks for the continued support! I'M SOOO GLAD MY RIFLEMAN "PRODUCT PLACEMENT" WORKED OUT!!! Hopefully you'll see me actually wearing it later, too.

...I absolutely hate to make excuses for poor shooting. 99% of the time, the weakest link with any weapon system is the shooter.

That being said - I hated that Colt Police Positive!!! We each had our own seperate pistols, and every single one of them shot differently, and NONE of them shot straight. These were not reproduction pistols - these pistols were actually from the 1920's and they were all worn out! ...I think mine must have been recovered from the Titanic!

The first team challenge with the billiard balls - I think I just choked. I was extremely nervous. The Prohibition Challenge - as lame as it sounds, I have to blame that gun.

I ran up, loaded my pistol (having dadged all paintballs), lined up on the first bottle, squeezed the trigger. I saw my shot go left. Now - with a right-handed shooter it's a common trigger pull error to "push" your shot to the left. I assumed the error was ME. So for the 2nd target, I lined up my sights the same, concentrated on a good trigger pull, and the shot still went left. Then I realized that it was the gun - not me. So for the last shot, I compensated to the right, and fired on the 3rd target, and I hit a little high of the explosive bullseye.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Police_Positive

If you look at the Colt Police Positive, the front sight is a tall half-moon blade, the rear sight is a V-shaped groove cut into the top of the receiver. So for a proper sight alignment, you have to sink the front sight abnormally low. Everything about it feels wrong. This is what accounts for my last shot being too high...

BUT - Excuses are like buttholes, and I (rightfully) went to the elinimation challenge, and wrecked shop with the Thompson!!!

I swear - I don't really suck this bad! Just keep watching!!!!

Is it just me or is it the COOLEST damn thing in the world to get an AAR from the guy we just watched shooting on the show?  I hope we get 13 more AARs from Jamie. Keep going, brother!

BTW, the only reason we still have cable is to watch this season of Top Shot. Once it's over, we're pulling the plug.
