AR-15 Comeups

QuoteIf you have standard sights you will have two rear peep sights that rock back (or flip up).

One is labelled 0-2 and that is for 0-200 meter shooting assuming you are battlesighted in.

The other is for rifleman shooting (at distance)

From 300 meters to 400 meters come up 3
From 400 meters to 500 meters come up 4
From 500 meters to 600 meters come up 5
From 600 meters to 700 meters come up 6
From 700 meters to 800 meters come up 7 (do you notice a mathematical sequence here?)

To zero, set rear sight at 3 +1 click, zero at 25 meters making adjustments by raising or lowering front sight.  When you are dead on, congratulations you are zeroed assuming a 55 or 62 grain bullet and non match sights.

For the challenged then:  the number 3 on the rear sight = 300 meters, the number 8= 800 meters.  Since the elevation knob makes a complete circle there is setting 8/3.  Dialed up it is 800 meters and dialed down 300 meters.

Your AR is probably different, but not that much different. You are a rifleman, or wannabe, and should be able to understand it.

To figure out MOA for your rear sight just count clicks between 3 & 4 and you do the math.

QuoteThere a number of ways to zero an AR, depending on the sights, ammo type, barrel length, and intended purpose.  The following link:http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/zeroingmethods.msnw gives a good summary of most of the common methods.
