Saturday the 62 degree weather with cloudy skies and a cross between a mist and a drizzle greeted 32 shooters. Ages ranged between 10 years and "that's not a nice thing to ask a lady young man". We had several people show up with brand new 10/22's, and some people came who had never shot before.
One young lady, Emily, brought her grandfathers Marlin lever action and had every instructor go by at least once to drool over it. She shot it all day and into the next before having some malfunctions that made it necessary to change out to a scoped Marlin that she shot well too.  If she reads this "Happy Birthday" for next Saturday! NewMOe  volunteered LayLo to dress up in a clown costume and do balloon tricks if she'd come to the shoot in Glen Helen! Not sure which of her parents lost the point spread shooting and had to make dinner that night.
There were four other sets of families present for the weekend all of whom took to the instruction well. They came with M1A, M1 Carbine, Mini-14, and a bunch of 22's and left with a wealth of Heritage appreciation and an ability to shoot better. It appeared that all of the participants enjoyed the history presentations and became very involved with the rifled musket, pistol and bayonet of ASMinuteman's that they got to pass around...and also heard fired twice during the 3 strikes.
It was a happy thing for all the instructors to see when we offered to do the end of day Redcoat or stay late for an AQT they ALL voted AQT. Patriots all. I applaud you.

Sunday brought the same overcast and mist but instead of burning off it got windy and cooler.
While all of us wore sweaters and coats it didn't seem to bother the sweat bees at all. They provided moving targets for the hats to be swung at and could be counted on to be present in larger quantities when "shooters your preparation period begins now" was announced. Only one young man was stung and quick action got him past it and back on the line.
The histories of the individual old men and women brought smiles to many faces as they were told in the first person and you could see the 'realness' of the person as the years between then and now disappeared. We shot through many AQT's with scores rising and falling. We shot NPOA drills with stars and the favorite, cookies! The day ended with the presentation of two Rifleman patches and the overall agreement that everybody not only was shooting better but wanting to know where they could get books and information about the period.
We, the instructors, were surprised by the expression of support? togetherness? neighbors helping neighbors? just like they heard about in the 3 strikes, as they all stayed and helped us clean the entire area of backers, pop-ups, trash, brass and all. Who says that the spirits of the founding fathers aren't present in us today? Oh yeah.....22calgal is now our latest RED HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a magical weekend for this brand-spanking new red hat!!!  I don't think my feet have touched the ground yet, and I am very humble and grateful to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before me and who have shown me the way to be a bigger part of Project Appleseed.

The shooters were wonderful, the weather was nice, the bees were not!  We had skill levels from beginning to experienced, and everyone worked together and had fun.  The responses to the history both days was heartwarming.  There is hope for our country yet! 8)

Congrats to our new Riflemen and thanks to everyone who suited up and showed up and got off the couch for the weekend.  Another Project Appleseed successful shoot! :---

My family and I want to say thank you to all the instructors. We had a great time and learned a lot. We are really looking forward to going to our next Appleseed shoot and chasing that rifleman patch. Emily not only learned great marksmanship skills but excelent history. Thank you all again. We are looking forward to seeing all the pictures.
