M1 buttstock spacer?

I'd like to try my Garand with a little longer length of pull.

Does anyone know of a buttstock spacer that will fit between the standard stock and the standard metal buttplate?

I'd be happy to drill holes to get to my cleaning kit, but I'd rather not have to do any other "fitting."

Thanks

What about one of those slip on rubber recoil pads?  I have one on my M1A and it works ok.  Since I'm 6'4" with long arms,  length of pull is an issue for me as well.

You may want to look at the spacer they have on Midway.  It's supposed to replace the buttplate, but with a hot knife or a belt sander, could easily be turned into a simple spacer.

The upper screw might not be an issue (if the spacer was permanent) as you could add something to the screw hole (glue and wood slivers) to rethread the screw into a solid hold.  The bottom screw threads into the butt swivel to both hold the swivel in the stock and hold the bottom of the butt plate in position.  You might need to either make yourself a longer bottom screw or move the butt swivel into the extension.

I did exactly this for my "new" M1 Garand just last week.  The pad I used was a Limbsaver slip-on, size Large.  It's snug enough that it won't fall off but it can be removed or replaced easily.

For what it's worth, I'm 6'2", monkey-armed, and big nosed.  Without the pad my nose was resting against the rear of the receiver, just behind the first serial number, when slung up tight.  Very disconcerting.  While it didn't actually hurt to fire, it was flincheriffic.  With the pad I have about an inch of clearance and no more issues.
