Twenty Four persistent Appleseeders stepped up in the Saturday mist and cold for the April Appleseed at the Midland Sportsmans Association range.  They were rewarded with steady improvement through the day and by really nice, sunny weather for Sunday.  And we were able to finish up just ahead of the first mosquitoes of the Spring season!

Congratulations to new Riflemen Frank, Eric, and Steve.  Steve can attest that dropping just one point on Stage 4 makes up for a whole lot of minor errors (like saving 4 shots on Stage 2!).  Special mention to young shooters Ruby and Carson who, on sandbags, fired on every stage (with bolt-action repeaters!) and turned in some really good scores (like around 200+?).  Pictures are pending.  Carson was using the families starter rifle - an elderly (Remington?) with a cut down stock (maybe 8" long?) which fit her very well.  Next time I'll use her or Ruby to demo proper bolt action technique for the rapid-fire stages.

More updates soon.

We had a great shoot!  Great weather on Sunday,

three new riflemen,

two fantastic children,

and a wonderful group overall.

The location was great, thank you to Midland Shooters Association for their help and hospitality.  I had a great time working with both the shooters and the crew, and hope to work with you again.

Ahhh Midland! Looks like it was a great shoot! I missed being there with you guys.

I recognize a couple of those Riflemen from 1109 and 0409. Glad to see them rewarded for their persistence.  ..:..

Midland Shooters Association is a fine range and the people in Midland are top notch. I hope to make it up there in November.

Thanks for comin' y'all - shooters and instructors!

Hope to fill the line better in November.

See you then.
"Unhappy it is, though, to reflect that a brother's sword has been sheathed in a brother's breast and that the once-happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by a race of slaves.  Sad alternative!  But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?" - George Washington - from a letter to a close friend after the events of April 19, 1775

"There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our (the United States) overthrow.  Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter.  From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger.  I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." - Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837
