I'll add to this post this evening, but wanted to get this thread started to open the discussion.  First off, a HUGE thanks to the Mid Nebraska Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting their 2nd Appleseed.  I also owe a very big thanks to all 6 of our NE IITs (2 of them who drove 4 hours Sunday AM to the range and another 4 hours home just so they could help wake up sleeping Americans), who played key roles in making this shoot a success and our NE State Coordinator, Gibbs459.  We patched 2 new Riflemen and 3 MNRPC members who shot Rifleman last September stepped up to the challenge of the Orange Hat.  This evening I'll post more details and lots of pics from my camera, so stay tuned!  O0

A huge thanks to all of the IITs who helped make this weekend a success.  gibbs459, Squirrel7, Hatchet Jack, Swampfox7, and m4man did an outstanding job and were all promoted to IIT1.  Necede also did a great job calling the line on Sunday.  And a big welcome to the new NE IITs: Biareros, 1911jmb, and COMPUDOC.

Alright, now for some photographic goodness of the April 17/18, 2010 Broken Bow, NE shoot.  We had a lot of fun last weekend:

Sunrise over the range.

Welcome to Mid Nebraska Pistol and Rifle Club, Appleseeders!

The firing line.

Practicing the sitting position.

Quickly post your new targets and return to the firing line!

Stage 1 of the AQT.

Our Volley for Liberty Red Coat, signed by everyone – this one’s going into our NE Appleseed scrapbook since it’s our very first April 19th Appleseed weekend.

Teaching MOA on the target line.

This Dad shot up his daughter’s Stage 4 on two separate AQTs, so we spray painted a big orange circle around his AQT.

The Oreos made an appearance as a reactive 5 MOA target for some fun mixed in with the Sunday afternoon AQTs.

I said we made 2 new Riflemen…

Here’s number 1.

And here’s number 2!

Also, 3 of the MNRPC members who shot Rifleman last September showed up to help with the shoot and stepped up to the call of the Orange Hat.

Here’s the first…

…the second…

…and also the third.

It was an outstanding weekend with great weather - most of us ended up with sunburned faces.   :-[  Everybody had a great time and declared they would be back and bring a friend.  We made 2 new Riflemen.  We also recruited 3 new IITs (effectively a 50% increase for Nebraska!).

This is the start of an excellent year for Nebraska!

Hmmm, That sounds vaguely familiar.  I think I have heard that before :)

Blue Skies

Great job, Wes!  It's a beautiful range too.

My son Alex (Youngblood on the forum) earned his Orange Hat this weekend in Fountain.  What's the drive time from Denver to your range?

Blue Skies

Thanks Blue Skies!  And congrats on Alex - that's awesome.  Tell him I said congrats!  It's about 5.5 hours from you to Broken Bow, NE.  We've also got a few shoots coming up in Grand Island, NE; which would be a touch over 5.5 hours, too.  Plus we've got one lined up for July in Hastings, NE and that's between 5.5 and 6 hours for you.  It's a long drive, but we'd love to see a Colorado convoy come out!   ;)

First, thanks for the pictures.

Second, if you folks are returning to that range later this year be sure and take more pictures.  I think they'll be something of a nice "fruited plain" look as well as some "spacious skies" when things get a big greener.  I'll be watching as the seasons pass.

Thanks again,

Mogs

COMPUDOC

ZH do you have a date on the Hastings shoot?  It is not posted on the schedule yet.

Mogs - Shoot me a PM if you want hi-res (~3MB/pic) copies of some of the pics that show the fields in the background.  MNRPC has invited us back for another shoot later this year - with some luck, there will be some corn or soybeans in those fields!

I'm waiting on one more administrative point with the club and then we'll post it in the schedule and Eventbrite.  The weekend's going to be July 24/25, so put that on your calendar!  O0

I had a great time last weekend.   Zombiehunter is a excellent shoot boss, ran a excellent appleseed event.  Many thanks for his commitment.  He talked me in to taking a orange hat,  think he would make a good used car salesman.
