I am in the Orlando area ,have been reloading about 6 years, and would love to give help or advice to anyone who is in need.As far as a press recomendation I would stake everything on a Dillon RL550 ,rock solid with a no bs warranty.I load big rifle .308, 30-06, 8mm, 30-30 on a Lyman T-mag mainly because of prep and their size, but for .556 is on the Dillon(after case prep of course)All pistol is on the Dillon .380, 9mm, 38sp, .357 mag, .40s&m, .44 mag .45acp, .45 lc. I also reload shotgun shells, .410 &12 ga on a Pondness warren or MEC . Its a great hobby and gives you an edge to be able to make your own ammo.

I suggest taking a look at Hornady presses and dies because of the "Get Loaded" deal.

Close, I'm casting my own projectiles and reloading my saved brass.  Sadly I'm a novice that should not be providing training to anyone at this point.

Do we have any reloaders in middle TN?

Hi TN_Dadx5,
Just shotgun reloading right now but I have been saving 9mm and .223 cases as well as primers and powder. Just not real sure which reloader or how to get started. I've been told to start with a dillon 550 for hand gun loads. Hopefully I'll get started this year.

Hello Group; The SEASON (appleseed ) is about to realy get going here in ILLINOIS, and the RELOADING season will be on the back burner for many folks.... This is realy one of the best times to get started. Pick ONE rifle to start with, the size realy does not matter.
Buy a good quality press, USED or NEW.... It realy does not matter as much as some would lead you to believe with a single stage press. The dies should be full length. Good quality tooling makes a big ... Do not buy Cheap. As you will pay in the long run...
I can and will help any Reloader with getting started and making the most from the least.

Pappy, in the off chance you see this, can you give us a run down your your favorite equipment or setup?  I know its personal preference and all but any information is probably useful to somebody like me without any equipment at all.  Don't know if I will find anybody in Central California (Fresno) to learn to reload with so will probably have to gather it all myself based off of recommendations rather than figuring out what I like before I buy equipment.

Can I stand in for Pappy? I have been reloading for 38 years, and fire lead bullets I cast myself.
You are right Towed Jumper, personal prefrence plays a big role.
I use a RCBS single stage press because many years ago it was given to me, it still works.
I have a Dillon 650
and a Lyman turret press.
The RCBS does the seious loading,
The Dillon loads pistol ammo, AR and M1 loads. For rifle loads, the brass is cleaned, then sized on the RCBS, cleaned again, trimmed, deburred, primer pocket reamed. Then assembled on the Dillon.
The Lyman turret press bought used seems unprecise, it holds a lee lead hardness tester, a decaping die and has 4 empty holes, I do not trust it to resize or seat bullets, but does odd jobs instead.
So that's my personal prefrence I got there by useing what I have not through long trial and error.
Lee makes very good die sets I have never used a lee press but if cost is an issue take a look, you can always upgrade later. The lee hand press would be a good choice for a shooter with very limited room.
I firmly belive in the lee hand held primer seater, the short stroke makes it handy.
Hornady, Lyman, Redding, Forester, RCBS all have good products and a reputation to up hold.
So you are on your own choosing.
Good luck, and do not be afraid to ask questions.

TJ, what really helped me when I first started reloading was get a Sinclair catalog and have somebody that knows their stuff go through it with you marking what you need as well as what brand of which items work better than others and why. I've found some things are better form some companies than others and having that edge can save $$$ and frustration....O.L.

My $0.02...Lee Classic Cast Press has done well by me and all my rifle loads i.e. .250 Savage, .300 Savage, .308 Win, .30/06 Bolts and Garand, .30/40 Krag, .45/70 and .300 Wby Mag. Tried Lee Classic Turret and it died after loading 1,000 rounds of .45 ACP. Got rid of it. Most all loads with Lee dies problem free. Happy reloading. PM me if I can add anything else.

Through the years, when someone expressed interest in reloading, I would suggest some classroom work first. Get a book on the subject , and read it. The fast track to not only 'how' but 'why' is through someone else' expierience.   I think you'll be better prepared for when you first up to that reloading bench. With an expierienced reloader standing next to you, you'll be ready to solo in no time.
