Ok everyone, first I would like to apologize for not being as hands on with the Adaptive Appleseed Program as I had originally hoped. Many things kept getting in the way and besides aggravating myself, I'm sure Desertrat as well.

But, what I was not able to provide up front, I hope I can make up for on the last lap.

I am happy to say that I have finally been provided with a firm confirmation on a shoot date and location for Illinois' first Adaptive Appleseed. I have recently been approved for 4 Appleseeds at the first rate facilities of the Illinois State Rifle Assoc. and two of those dates would work well.

Here is a link to the EIP http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11198.0

The ISRA's 1st vice President is extremely interested in this shoot and is willing to help promote it. I also have been in contact with members of my American Legions Charitable Foundation, and we may have a small amount of funding available from them as well.

My next step, was contacting the Wounded Warrior Project to see if they were interested in such an event. I wanted to see if any of you have done so already, so as not to scramble up the message if you know what I mean (that always drives me nuts when multiple people are approaching the same group, it seldom works out in our favor because we look unorganized)

I want to pitch this as an Appleseed that is for "Wounded Warriors" and others with Adaptive Needs...and their Families. I think this would be a great Family event for the Veteran's and of course the non-Veteran Families as well, though I am at a total loss for proper wording.

Does any one else have some input here, and would the June 19-20 be OK, or do you believe we should wait until    October 9-10????  ISRA is antsy to get this going ASAP.

This facility has very well covered firing lines, and depending on the qty. of shooters we have two options for 25M ranges (or both) and we have a 300yd range as well for those achieving Rifleman (though that line is not covered).

Also, how many of you Volunteers interested in Adaptive Appleseed would able to volunteer for this shoot?

Thank you all for your efforts and of course your time. Looking forward towards your input.

G69.....  "though I am at a total loss for proper wording."  ? ? ?   **)   **)  Now that's funny right there!  Oh wait he didn't say a loss for words.....just a loss for proper wording.  OK, thought my 'puter musta got a virus or something  ++)

Seriously, great project.  Reckon we owe it to them.  They selflessly gave all they had,  for us.  If you can set it for the June shoot.....I'm in.  Be proud to volunteer for this shoot.

ISRA does have a great range for this type of event.  Covered shooting line, concrete pad to shoot from, hard gravel parking right behind the equipment line, on site ADA porta potties, running water bathrooms w/ showers.  Be hard pressed to find a more suitable range.

Think this is a great idea. Hopefully everything is a go. Being one of the Mods for the Veterans here on A.AS I would sure love to be there. If you can get a definite on the date I'll give it my all to be there. I live in NY so planning is a must.
I hold a special place in my heart for the "Wounded Warriors" and being there would be an Honor for me.
Please keep me posted.

I prefer the June Date that I posted. The date is approved and on the schedule, I just wanted your opinions whether or not we had the time to pull it off properly.

Everyones input is greatly appreciated.  We can have have this nailed down by mid-week as far as I am concerned. I just wanted as much input as possible because we will need a very heavy Volunteer base for the shoot.

Karl

I'm in for either June or Sept....... It's the least I can do.

G69 let me know if there is anything I can do prior to the event. I can take a couple of days off of work before the AS to help set up if needed.

Thanks,

G69,

Looks good to me.  Don't worry about desertrat, he's trying to finish up some projects before The Shooting Season starts in earnest.  I'll PM you for some specifics, not of primary interest here or now, but will become an A.AS template- eventually.
