At the risk of getting flamed for saying it, may I suggest more neutral language, e.g., "This rifleman can hit his target at 200 paces."  For now, we may want to avoid associating AS with training shooters to engage an "enemy," especially if we are reluctant to identify that enemy, because our detractors will be more than happy to make that association for us but for their benefit.

I spent too long learning and training others in all the various ways to strike my country's enemies to think it as less than honorable, something to be hidden under a cloak of TruthSpeak.    On the other hand, Sie is correct: use the word "enemy" in a present-day context, and our enemies (ugh!) will be happy to hit us over the head with it.

   Getting involved in some useless scrap over TruthSpeak is guaranteed to take us off-mission - and maybe, even, off-course.

   Let's wait until the program is successful before we declare it safe to bring back the First Amendment, along with the others.

   Not trying to start something, just hoping to remind all here that we swim in the ocean of 21st-century America, a place where dangerous enemies abound.

   Right now, we're not big enough to be worth attacking and eating.

   That will come, later, when we get bigger!

   And we should be prepared, not to give them any opening, any chink in the armor, any stick with which to beat us.

I can make "target" version if you feel strongly enough about it, but "target" is a generic word while "enemy" provides a size reference.

While you are correct Earl, But "real thinking" people are not nearly as abdundant as we would hope. So we must make our own real thinking people using what we have to work with. Of course you need to attract as many of the almost thinking folks as possible.

I agree with Fred's assessment.

For some reason, grumpy old guys' wisdom seems to always be correct, despite my middle aged vigor for truth and want to be right.

We cannot give "them" any chink the the armor to focus on, PERIOD. (I really liked that analogy, Fred....old guys and wisdom).



In addition, these two replies are a good alternative to the original text in the very outstanding photo.

I would like to reiterate what my wife, Jules, said - I'm a huge fan of your work! I have been sharing your photos and watching your skills improve over the years. You are a THE master at catching the positive side of the armed citizen, the real and actual people, on film.

Your messages are spot on when viewed from the perspective of our own personal opinions, we each have a right to those opinions and, on our own time, should take every opportunity to share those opinions.

When it comes to Appleseed though, sadly the rules must change.

Appleseed must not give the anti-gun groups ANYTHING to be used against us. Anything that gives the least hint of aggression being connected to Appleseed should be avoided or Appleseed will set itself up as the lightning rod for the misguided, Brady loving, short sighted, few that would rather trade "Liberty for Safety". They will create enough falsehoods about us on their own as we grow into the largest Pro-Liberty group in the nation, we do not need to hand them the ammunition to twist and throw back at us, and I promice you they will make every effort to do just that.

Keep in mind that Appleseed's strength is in exponential growth, that is our "Big Stick" (actually it's huge, gigantic even!). Having that Big Stick allows us DEMANDS FROM US, that we speak softly!

Your contributions are priceless! Very few individuals in this country (in fact NONE that I know of anywhere) have the talent to portray the truth of the Second Amendment in such striking and beautiful ways. I look forward to every new photo and poster you craft.

No kidding!  He's brave to do that without goggles.

BD is right.  We're selling the American Heritage of personal, invested involvement, best demonstrated by the actions of the Minutemen at the North Bridge on April 19th, 1775.  I suppose we could discuss the writings of Paine, Franklin, and Jefferson, but I don't think talking about essays will have quite the draw of shooting guns.     It's part of the reason we can honestly say that "We are not a Second Amendment organization"; the marksmanship is secondary to the goal of active citizenry.  By mastering the Six Steps to Taking a Shot, we hope that those men and women will take the Seventh Step.
