Patriot Group Conference Speakers

Dr. Yuri Maltsev  -  He is a Professor of Economics at Carthage College in Wisconsin and a Senior Fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.
Yuri Maltsev graduated from Moscow State University with a Master of Arts in History and Social Sciences (1973) and received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Labor Economics from the Institute for Labor Research in Moscow (1980). Dr. Maltsev held, over a fifteen-year period, various teaching and research positions in Moscow, Russia. Before coming to the U.S. in 1989, he was a member of a team of Soviet economists that worked on President Gorbachev's reforms package of perestroika at the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was a Program Director of the International Center and a Peace Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace.
Dr. Maltsev has appeared on PBS Newshour, CNN, C-Span, Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Political Cesspool, National Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio and Danish, British, Lithuanian, Russian, Spanish, and Finnish television and radio programs. He has taught at the Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, LCC International University in Klaipeda and Baltic Management Institute in Vilnius, Lithuania, University of Caen in Cherbourg, France and University of San Diego, California.
Dr. Maltsev serves as a member of the advisory boards of the Foundation for Economic Education in Irvington-On-Hudson, New York; Heartland Institute in Chicago; and the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics published by Transaction Periodicals, Rutgers University. He is listed in the Guide to Public Policy Experts of the Heritage Foundation since 1991.

Herman Cain  -  A conservative African-American newspaper columnist, businessman, politician and radio talk-show host from Georgia. He is best known as the former chairman and CEO of Godfather's Pizza. Cain's newspaper column is distributed by North Star Writers Group.
Cain worked as a mathematician for the Department of the Navy, a business analyst for the Coca-Cola Company, and for the Pillsbury Company, where he became Vice-President of Corporate Systems and Services within three years. Cain hoped to reach a corporate presidency, and to pursue this goal he decided to resign his senior position and move into the restaurant industry. Cain entered Pillsbury's Burger King division, where he worked his way up from making hamburgers to managing 400 restaurants in the Philadelphia region. Under Cain's leadership, the region went from being the chain's worst-performing in the country to its best. In 1986, Cain was appointed head of Pillsbury's struggling Godfather's Pizza chain, which he restored to profitability in 14 months, and organized a buyout of the company from Pillsbury in 1988. Cain went on to serve on the board of the National Restaurant Association, chairing the board from 1994 to 1995 and becoming President and CEO in 1996. In 1999 Cain became President of RetailDNA.
In 2004, Cain ran for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, pursuing the seat which came open with the retirement of conservative Democrat Zell Miller. As of May 2009, Cain hosts The Herman Cain Show on Atlanta talk radio station News Talk 750 WSB from 7-10PM EST Monday through Friday and serves as a commentator for Fox News Business and a syndicated columnist distributed by the North Star Writers Group. In 2009, Cain founded "Hermantor's Intelligent Thinkers Movement" (HITM), a non-partisan movement aimed at organizing 100,000 activists in every congressional district in the United States in support of a strong national defense, the FairTax, tax cuts, energy independence, capping and cutting government spending, restructuring Social Security, and defending the U.S. Constitution.

Robert Schulz  - a political activist and tax protester living in Queensbury, New York, is the founder of the We the People Foundation for Constitutional Education, a non-profit education and research organization with the declared mission "to protect and defend individual Rights as guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States."
In 1994, Schulz was on the New York State ballot as the Libertarian candidate for Governor.
Bob Schulz has an engineering degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (1963), and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University (1969). He completed most of the course work for a Ph. D. in Public Administration at the Graduate School of Public Affairs , State University of NY.
Bob has held significant positions in industry (General Electric), in government (Connecticut, New York State, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), on Wall Street (Prudential-Bache), in business (founder and CEO of a consulting firm), and on the radio as a talk-show host (with WROW in Albany, New York).
Bob received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1959 and he answered his country's call by volunteering as a ship's engineer during the sea- lift to Vietnam in 1966.
However, this work and these assignments are not Bob's principal reason for being.
Although he is not an attorney, he is not unskilled in the law. For the past 22 years Bob has been occupied with an abiding concern about wrongful governmental behavior and has been carefully evaluating governmental behavior, comparing that behavior with the requirements of the State and Federal Constitutions and unhesitatingly confronting improprieties and conflicts, in the courts, professionally, intelligently and rationally. Bob has performed the research, prepared the briefs and argued cases in the highest state and federal courts. At least one hundred fourteen (114) decisions have been rendered in cases he has brought against unconstitutional and illegal governmental behavior, often with other citizen-plaintiffs.
Be assured, Bob is not some legal crank, interested in making a reputation. The things he has been dealing with are painful to him and costly. He has done much of this on his own, but he has received the encouragement and support and participation of a growing number of people in New York State and elsewhere. Click here for a list of the citations of the 99 state court decisions and 15 federal court decisions in the cases Bob has brought against governmental wrongdoing.

Regina Kolbow  - Regina is a founding member of Concerned Women Patriots of Wisconsin. She has researched and developed a seminar that examines the history, application and impact of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and presented this seminar around the state.

Vicki McKenna  -  Vicki McKenna got her start in radio as a news anchor/reporter and editor in Northern Illinois. She moved to Madison in 1995, where she worked as assistant news director for a Madison news/talk station. In 1996 she won the coveted position as co-host of the morning show on the legendary Z104 FM, then later on the heritage alternative rock station WMAD. After a brief stint in advertising, Vicki returned to the airwaves in 2003 to pursue her original passion in radio.
Vicki calls herself a "converted conservative", which she credits to her upbringing and a conversation with former Congressman Mark Neumann in her early days of reporting.  Her conservative ideology has been honed and refined over the years; now, Vicki passionately advocates a conservative point-of-view on social and political issues, as well as matters dealing with pop culture and everyday life.
McKenna hails from Rockford and Roscoe, Illinois. She did her undergraduate work at Beloit College, and went on to pursue her masters in Sociology at the University of Denver, but never finished. She has received numerous awards for her work in the broadcast medium, including the Illinois Broadcasters Association Award for Excellence. She's been the recipient of the Wisconsin State Journal/Capital Times Readers Choice Award, Isthmus Newspaper's Madison Favorites, Fox 47 Viewer's Choice Award and Madison Magazine's Best of Madison.
Vicki has appeared on the Fox News Channel, C-Span, CNN, NBC's Today Show, CNN Radio, ABC Radio news and Wisconsin Public Television.

She is an avid marine fish, eel, reef and snake keeper. Her personal interests include her pets, motorcycles, target shooting and scuba.

Vicki McKenna is a proud member of the NRA--and committed defender of OUR Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Rebecca Kleefisch  -- She received her BA in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Rebecca worked as an anchor at WIFR-TV and then moved to WISN-TV as a news person before leaving to be a full-time mother. She has also worked as a conservative correspondent for Charlie Sykes at WTMJ and appears as a panelist on "Sunday Insight." She is the President of Rebecca Kleefisch Inc. and produces a weekly blog.

Dear Capt. Karl,

Thank you for your participation in the first ever Freedom Groups Conference in Oconomowoc this weekend starting Friday.
You may arrive to setup your exhibits anytime Friday after 8AM.  The official start time is Noon.  Please be advised that some have requested 2 or more tables.  Those tables will be reserved.  For those who have not forwarded payment yet, please put in the mail no later than Wednesday 11/4 (address below).

Tim Dake and his team have worked tirelessly to bring groups and representative members from around the state together and expects a turnout of 150 or more.  We've integrated your exhibit tables into the general session arena to direct traffic where it will do the most good.  Of course we'd like to introduce as many people we can to each of our groups.  There will be other events in the hotel from which we hope to draw attention and of course inviting others will also contribute to exposure.

Thank you again for your participation and let's get all our grassroots organizations on the same page to not only take back our state, our country but to turn towards the founding ideal of principled, limited government.

Good Morning Wisconsin Patriots!

If anyone doubts whether the conservative grassroots can truly make a difference in the next election - I ask that you look at the race in New York's 23rd Congressional District. The liberal Republican candidate, Dede Scozzafava, dropped out yesterday in deference to the support given by the people of the district to independent Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. Even Michael Steele, RNC Chairman, has now come out in support of Hoffman. The conservative message is being heard - in New York - but what of Wisconsin? Are we ready to make our voices heard - as one? Are we ready to agree to a common set of goals and to work together to achieve them? We need all Wisconsin tea party and patriot voices to come together in this discussion. We cannot afford to leave out a single voice or group. We do not have to agree on everything, but we must create a set of common goals and we must work together to make real change.

We have made a few changes to the conference plan. Herman Cain will not be able to speak; this will streamline things a little. Pastor David King has volunteered to say a few words as he is holding a fundraiser in the building at the same time. We are asking him to perform an invocation. A couple more requests to speak in breakout sessions have been made. Delegates from the Wisconsin delegation to the 2009 Continental Congress will be available from 11:30 to 1:30 to hear your concerns and to discuss the congress.

To answer a few more questions that we have received:

•   There is NO CHARGE to attend the conference. We need all voices.
•   You do NOT need to stay at the resort to participate - many are coming for the day from nearby.
•   The resort has many amenities for those staying; www.olympiaresort.com
•   The room charge is at the resort's cost of $92/night plus tax. PLEASE MAKE YOUR ROOM RESERVATIONS BY CALLING THE RESORT AT 800-558-9573.
•   The meals are reduced to: Friday dinner: $18.70 per person; Saturday brunch: $17.45 per person; Sunday breakfast buffet: $11.88 per person - - these prices include tax and tip and are reduced to the resort's cost.
•   Friday's schedule has the expo running from 10-10 in the ballroom, this includes patriot and civic groups and political parties exhibiting as well as vendors for the groups such as T-shirt, button and print vendors. We have a dinner scheduled for Friday evening at 6:30 and a couple of videos to present. The primary purpose of Friday is for the groups to meet each other and have discussions in a relaxed, informal setting as well as to get information that is available in the expo.
•   Saturday's schedule is for hearing a couple of speakers, having the delegates meet and work out our combined plan for 2010, giving the opportunity for the attendees to attend the breakout sessions and learn about constitutional issues and how to use the constitutional arguments in your debates, learn about tax status and liability, learn about countering the left's Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, learn about fundraising, and to network with the other groups to support each other and learn what works and what does not. On Saturday evening, the resort is turning over one of their lounges to us to use as an exclusive lounge for the attendees. Rebecca Kleefisch will talk and we have invited Vicki McKenna to do the same. It will be a relaxed, fun format.
•   Sunday has a limited schedule. There are meeting rooms available for the groups and committees to meet and plan their schedules and tasks.
We would like to stress that for this conference to be successful we need as many ideas and voices as we can get. We are pushing for a high attendance from all the groups, not just of delegates, but non-delegate attendees in order to bring as much experience to the conference as possible. We are asking that you, the leadership of your groups, encourage your members to attend. We would like your group to come prepared with your ideas, your goals, and your experience on how to improve each others groups and events.

We are pushing this conference because we are just 4 months away from the PRIMARIES. We need to make our presence and our plan felt in the primaries - we cannot wait until November of 2010, because if we want to be able to oust the the socialist leaning and voting incumbents, we MUST ensure everyone votes in the primaries to give us the choice of like-minded candidates and not just the typical R or D. That election is just one year and one day away - 366 days to turn the tide. The parties give the candidates the money and machine after the primaries. We can play a part NOW and change the direction of the elections.

I can tell you unequivocally, that I know that we have the attention of the parties in Wisconsin. They are watching our groups and they are very interested in what we have to say. What do you want to tell them? This is your group's chance to be heard. Many of the parties will be exhibiting at the expo - they are coming to hear from you. Let's all be there and create a dialogue with the parties.

I need a couple of things from you at this time:
•   An accurate estimate of the number of people from your group that will attend - I need to confirm the size and number of meeting rooms.
•   An accurate estimate on the number dining and what meals they are going to be having - I need to give the resort a number for ordering food by Monday, November 2nd.
I have called and talked to many of you already and will be calling the balance in the next couple of days. If you have questions, please do not hestitate to call me on my cell at 262-308-0553. If I have talked with you already and you have more questions or if your members have questions, please call and feel free to tell your members call me.

2010 Starts NOW!

Patriot Group Conference Breakout Session Topics

1)   Americans For Prosperity Tax Status/ Liability Seminar  - This seminar will focus on the need to have a clear tax status and the types available to you organization. A worst case scenario is assumed and then your options to counter it are presented. With the administration openly threatening FOX News, it is not beyond the realm of reason to imagine the administration going after the Tea Party movement next. The seminar will presented by AFP lawyers. We hope to also have an insurance representative to talk about liability insurance for your events.

2)   Countering Alinsky's Rules For Radicals  -  This seminar explains Alinsky's Rules and how we, as conservatives, can counter the emotional basis of these attacks. The history and pervasive spread of this liberal philosophy throughout Wisconsin and its institutions are examined. Presented by Regina Kolbow and Vicki McKenna.

3)   The US Constitution in Detail  -  An in-depth analysis of the US Constitution and the nuances of this founding document are presented by Chad Kent, a professional public speaker and self-professed constitutional scholar. An entertaining and informative look at the document that you think that you know and will find that you probably do not.

4)   33 Minutes and Not Evil, Just Wrong  -  Two movies presented by Kim Simac of Northwoods Patriots along with a discussion afterward. 33 Minutes examines missile defense in our age - a threat thought to diminish with the collapse of the Soviet Empire but renewed by Iran and North Korea. Not Evil, Just Wrong looks at the hysteria of the climate change issue. Director Phelim McAleer is the man who asked Al Gore about the inaccuracies of his "Inconvenient Truth" recently and was physically removed from the meeting of the Society of Environmental Journalists (no, I didn't make that name up).

5)   Fundraising Seminar  -  AFP will present a seminar on how the groups can conduct effective fund raising. Using the same methods that groups such as AFP use, our groups can learn to raise fund and increase the number and quality of our events and publications to reach a larger audience

I am planning on being there on Friday.
I think I can be there by noon and will spend the entire day there, closing the table at 10pm.
It would be great to have two people there so one of us can take AS stuff to other vendors and spread the word.

This could really be good for Appleseed in the entire midwest....not only Wisconsin!

How about some border raiders!!!!!  Nothing wrong with saying we need some help with this one.....Lets make this happen!

EEL

Sounds like a golden opportunity.  O0  Unfortunately, your usual border raiders will be busy at the final AS event at Ottawa for 2009  :'(  Hope youse guys up nort can cover our slack, just this 1 time!

I'll be looking for a post telling us all how it went.  From the posts bt Capt. Karl, sounds like it will be most informative and hopefully quite fruitful not only for Appleseed, but for the country as a whole.

Carry On,
EEL
Do not fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have war......Let it start here.

Capt. Karl

My ETA for Olympia Resort for this assembly is Friday (tomorrow) at high noon.  I will be lodging at the resort Friday and Saturday night.

Please keep in mind that I want to attend to the Appleseed / RWVA table when I can, however, I am also very involved in all these matters and groups.  I am a reporter for The Liberty Tree Lantern, an assistant organizer working with the Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty, an active member of Americans for Prosperity, I work with certain "Conservative" State of Wisconsin legislators with Conservative issue legislation, and work with other groups such as our new Marinette/Menominee Sons and Daughters of Liberty "meetup" group.  In addition I am very active as the Marinette county coordinator for We The People Congress who have formed a NEW Continental Congress that will be initially convening in St. Charles, IL on Sunday November 8th, with three delegates from 49 States, for the purpose to plan and execute strategies to enforce Constitutional Law, in its entirety, on all THREE BRANCHES (AND BOTH major political parties) of the Federal Government via peaceful means (hopefully, God willing).

So I will not be able to attend to the RWVA table for a lot of the time, although I would/will be honored to at times that I can.  Friday afternoon will be a good time for me to be at the RWVA / Appleseed table,,,  I think,,,,   If I am not pulled away by other groups or matters of Constitutional discourse.

I am elated that the RWVA / Appleseed will be represented at this potentially historic event of nationally significant importance.  I believe that RWVA / Appleseed is of critical importance to our country and to the preservation of nothing less important than our liberty.  It has always been up to each one of us to remain eternally vigilant and to ENFORCE the laws that we wrote, established and ordained upon our Government as WE THE PEOPLE documented in The Constitution of the United States of America.  And, IF necessary, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce us under absolute Despotism, it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for our Constitution, rule of its laws and to provide for our future security.

I look forward to seeing all you Appleseed patriots at our assembly of WI Patriots.  I hope that any member who is even remotely interested in pitching in on our Appleseed table will come.

-- Capt. Karl

P.S.:  My 25 year old daughter Traci will be coming. I hope you guys will facilitate her interest in coming to a WI Appleseed. She's a pretty good shot already, but she's still a "cook", if you catch my drift.

DEACON!  GREAT!
I think this is going to be a great event and was really having trouble trying to get there.  Daughter moving/family coming in/granddaughter birthday....blahblahblah.  Do you want the gunshow banner and rigging?   I can meet you somewhere to deliver.  We've got SWATs too, targets, t-shirts.  Unfortunately, we don't have a WI schedule for next year yet. !@#)

I do think we would want to make attendees aware of our Nationwide Patriot's Day events, April 17-18, 2010 especially.

Should we try to keep a networking log with groups that are attending?

I will be there, hopefully around 2:00pm on Friday or as soon as I can get there from work.  Saturday I will be there all day as well and will be commuting from the lovely city of Racine.  If anybody else is down here, car pooling Saturday might be a possibility.  PM me.  Hopefully there will be a good showing so that we can have some wander time with our table time.  They want to know about Appleseed and I want to know about them.  See you there.   O0

I will meet Deacon and Endpoint around noonish.  Still need some people to be there on Saturday.  Very important that some one gets to the radio people.  Vicky McKinna is there for sure as she is speaking.   Who knows, Mark Billing, JT Harris?????

The eternally dependable US Post Office messed up again with the overnight delivery of the Freedom Scroll for the Scroll Ceremony being presented by Bob Schulz of We The People Congress.  Can't wait to see how they do with Health Care  >:(

So I will have to stay at my post until it arrives for my dispatch to the Olympia Resort.  Additionally I have been requested to pick up other printed materials from a Kinkos on the way in.  My ETA is therefore delayed from high noon to about 17:00 on Friday (tomorrow).
