Another fine Appleseed in Piru, but this one was a bit special. Not only was it proceeded by the first ever CA Rifleman's Boot Camp, but we also had two of our IIT's stepped into Instructor status (congrats to Cal 7.62 and Romeo's Hero!). On top of that it was the Bunker Hill weekend and we managed to present the story of Bunker Hill on Sunday for those hearty that continued their instruction on the second day. We also had a special presentation by Sespe and his wife Sara with their flint lock musket and rifle. But the thing that stood out to me the most were all the father and son groups at this Appleseed. Starting with James E and his son Mark, Harry and his son Shawn, Bill and his son Brian, Bruce and his son Colby, Steve and his sons Brandon and Trevor, and Mike and his son Mike. My hats off to all of you fathers for taking the day that is considered your day and instead using it to pass our Heritage on to your sons. My hats off to all of you sons for sharing in our Heritage with your fathers. This is what Appleseed is all about. This was a very special Appleseed indeed.

We had a good group show up Saturday and after the Intro and safety, sent them on their way down the Appleseed Trail. Much improvement and fun were had by all. With the new Orange Hats from the RBC (Jet Set and Ryan), we had great Instructor coverage on the line. We had a repeat customer from our Dulzura Appleseed on April 19th that drove right past the Corona Appleseed and came all the way up to Piru instead, where he posted his first official Rifleman's score, squeeking past the traditional dunking with a 211. At the end of the day invite Robt2k stepped up for his Orange Hat.

Sunday saw a bit of attrition as 9 folks showed back up and after being dubbed the "Whipped cream" were placed on the anvil of the AQT. When the dust settled we had another rifleman among us. Dano kicked out a solid 224 and was presented his patch. As I started into the Benediction, Dano jumped up and asked "How can I get one of those Orange Hats?", so amidst applause he stepped up and became our newest IIT.

Another fine weekend spent with another great group of folks. Appleseed....it just gets better and better.

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Hey Everyone,

Here's a couple of photos from the Appleseed.  The first is Dano getting his patch, the second is after he volunteered and got his orange hat!

I saw a couple of other cameras there, where are the other pics?

I had a great time, all the instructors were great, and the new orange hats from the boot camp were awesome. They really advanced during that boot camp and seemed like old pros.

I'll probably be up there for the Aug AS.

Dano

Jet Set, Thanks for the pics. Thanks also for all the instruction from you and the others, it was a great day indeed!
