I want to thank FCWA in Rome GA for supporting Project Appleseed and allowing us not only to use their facilities but also allowing Trail Life to camp out. It was a great weekend for Heritage and Marksmanship. It started off a little cool Saturday morning, but 11 shooters showed up ready to learn. After introductions were made, we were off to The First Strike. Leadslinger66 delivered a great Strike that roused the spirits of all our shooters and got the questions rolling. We covered safety and safe rifle before bringing rifles to the line. After Line Commands and Ammo Malfunctions were covered the shooters engaged there first hits count target. After scoring the targets we got right into the instructions. After covering all the instruction, we fitted rifles and practiced dry firing. Finally ;D , it was time to shoot some squares. Boy did the shooters absorb all that instruction. Shot groups improved rapidly.

The best instruction of the day LUNCH was served. While the shooters ate, they received the Second Strike and once again the questions and comments were flying ^:)^ . After a short cleanup we got right back to instruction, drills, and shooting. In the afternoon we covered talking targets and IMC. After some adjustments we broke again for The Third Strike. UpACreek delivered a great strike that once again stirred the minds of our shooters. ;D We finished up the day with a second Hits Count Target and the improvements continued to show. With a lesson on 7th stepping, we cleaned up and headed out.

Sunday brought slightly higher temps and 9 of our shooters returned. With safety and a little review, we got right back to the action. After a Hits Count target and a few squares, we taught transition to prone. Unfortunately, our Trail Life group had to leave early. We hope to work with you all again in the future. With 3 shooters left we continued instruction into the seated and kneeling position and on into standing. We sprinkled History into our breaks and even closed out the day with a Rapid Fire AQT. After the smoke cleared, we found a man who knew what he was about. Gage scored a 214 earning him a Rifleman Patch and he quickly asked for an Orange Hat ^:)^ . Anna had a high score of 199 and I'm sure you will qualify quickly. Remember to Dry Fire and practice those positions. I look forward to seeing you all on the line in the future.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Big thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great event. I learned a ton, earned my Rifleman patch, and also learned the hard way that at 38 I need to start wearing a hat because the top of my head is officially sunburn territory now.

Mike and Anna, y'all need to hit me up so we can get together and do some more shooting soon.

Sounds like a great event! Congratulations 12 Gage, and welcome aboard!  O0
