The weather was perfect both days – sunny and not excessively hot.  Seven shooters came out to join us, and we had a great weekend of marksmanship and heritage.   Only having a 50 yard range on Saturday, we covered all of the "Three Challenges of a Rifleman" that day, as well as other topics such as Cold Bore shift, Turret Calibration, Zero Shift in the different positions, and how to adjust Ballistics Calculators.  We also were able to get our 50 yard DOPE and shoot both a 50 yard and 25 yard regular AQT, along with a 50 yard Redcoat, a real hit with the shooters, with several clearing it at 50 yards.  It was again eye opening to see how big the AQT looked when you moved it up to 25 yards having just shot it at 50.   Huzza!  And we had several shooters who scored Rifleman on the 25m AQT as well.

Our team Parker's Revenge (at 25 and 50 yards) was another hit, won by team Tim, Shawn and Zach.  Concentrated fire at the high-profile targets was the key.  For a change of pace, we also shot a CMP Rimfire Sporter match and would have given away a silver (Zach) and two bronze medals (Shawn and Josh).

Sunday was for shooting – confirming DOPE at 50 yards and gathering it at 100, 150 and 200 yards, as well as trying for Morgan's Shingle.  Six (yes 6!) of the shooters hit the Shingle (Josh, Mike B, Henry, Zach, Doug and Shawn), with two of them going on to hit it standing (Josh and Zach).  Then it was on to 200 yard AQT's.  We managed to get in four of them and four shooters scored Riflemen on the 200 yard RKD (Henry, Josh, Zach and Shawn).  HUZZA!!!

But the best announcement for the weekend was that FOUR of the shooters have taken Orange Hats and volunteered to help us out.  Since the other shooters were already Orange Hats, Sunday became an Instructor shoot, as everyone was a volunteer!  HUZZA, and thank you!

What a wonderful weekend!  Thank you to BVRPC for the use of their wonderful facilities.

Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
