Hot Springs, AR AAR - Oct. 11, 2024 - Pistol Clinic

Six shooters came out on the morning of October 11, 2024 at MVSA in Hot Springs, Arkansas to improve their pistol skills. The weather was near perfect, providing sunny skies and pleasant temps. Everyone brought an eagerness to learn and positive attitudes that resulted in continuous improvement by all throughout the day.  After the morning welcome and a quick 3 Strikes presentation, we got down to the business of making Pistoleer™s!  After a full morning of instruction, we broke for a quick lunch and listened to a reading of The Declaration of Independence, and some words of wisdom from Captain.  After lunch was over, we had more instruction followed by the anticipated PQT's.  Morris, Michelle & Drew earned the award for distance travelled, coming all the way from Kansas.  I believe it was worth their time as they each earned their first Pistoleer™ patch with Drew adding a Distinguished score to boot!  Crystal hung with it all day showing a definite improvement of her skills, shooting respectable scores with a (small!) centerfire pistol – not an easy feat! Mike also did a fine job, displaying good shooting skills and a very pleasant disposition.  David, who is a Distinguished level Rifleman joined the line to improve his pistol skills.  We all know that a Rifleman Perseveres, and that held true with his efforts with the pistol.  Although not earning a Pistoleer™ patch this day, his skills improved as the day progressed and I believe he will earn that patch at a future event.  We finished up the day with a game of Big Dot, Little Dot followed by a final Hits Count target (and 1 more PQT at the request of a few determined students).  Everyone helped with a quick clean up and then left the range, I think, a bit better than when they arrived.  I have to say, I think this was a very good event.  Absolutely no safety issues and great participation by all.  I hope to see each of you at a future event (events!).  Also, a big Thank You to MVSA for their continuing support of Appleseed.  Huzzah!
