Thank you to JCSA for hosting what was at the time of the event, the only Ladyseed west of the Mississippi, and the first in Washington since 2018! This has been a goal of the Washington crew for a number of years and the six dedicated shooters who joined us made it possible. Rain and chilly winds on Saturday did not deter a single shooter and we were rewarded with a sunny Sunday, lots of smiling faces, and new friends.

Saturday we focused on rifle familiarization and the basic fundamentals of marksmanship for our beginner group of shooters. By the end of the first day, everyone was making shots inside a sighter square and three shooters successfully engaged Morgan's Shingle (that's half of the firing line)! We of course also heard of the action of April 19th, 1775 and just as important, the heroism of the women who did not have to muster that day but refused to sit idly by and do nothing, earning themselves a place in the history books, something we will ensure is not forgotten.

On Sunday shooters proved just how much they had learned on the first day, immediately putting up very respectable AQT scores. Jenna earned herself a purple Rifleman (Riflewoman?) patch and stepped up to help us continue the program with a Blue Hat! Caiti continued to improve by over 10 points each AQT and finished the event in the 190s. Chanelle and Maggie were just behind with multiple scores in the 160s. The weekend was drawing to a close but shooters weren't quite ready to be done and jumped at the opportunity to do a rapidfire AQT - many continuing to improve but a hard stop to shooting at 5pm meant our weekend together was unfortunately at its end. This was a wonderful group of shooters to work with and we sincerely hope to see everyone again!

We can't forget to mention Tank the range safety chihuahua who's watchful eye made sure everything was running smooth and shooter morale was kept high! (he too had to wear eye and ear protection. Safety is always in fashion!)

Great event!  Watching the groups shrink and scores rise was a lot of fun!  Definitely one of my favorites for the year.

Mr. tank was exhausted from all of the attention, a lot of socializing for him through the entire weekend.  As soon as we got home he left us downstairs and headed up to bed without us!  A tired pup is a happy pup!

YAY!!!  I LOVE to see another GREAT LADYSEED event!!!  It sounds like all of the ladies made lots of progress! Congrats Jenna on earning your patch and becoming a RIFLEWOMAN -- and thank you for taking a blue hat.  We absolutely love our blue hats.  They are lucky to have you!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
