Fourteen patriots decided to spend Labor Day weekend at Arnold Air Force Base shooting rifles and learning about our heritage despite the weather forecast of lots of heat and rain. While the temperature was warm, the rain mostly held off until Sunday.

Saturday started out with our "hits count" target.  The results showed that the students were at the right place.  Many of the students were new to Appleseed (some were even new to shooting rifles).  This made our jobs as instructors easier since they didn't have any bad habits yet.  The eye dominance drill yielded a few cross-dominant students and they received the proper guidance to adjust.  The students were great and definitely brought "teachable attitudes". By the end of the day, everyone was shooting a lot better...and their "hits count" targets and AQT's showed it!

Sunday morning's "hits count" targets showed much improvement (I think some of the students practiced NPOA, Six Steps of Firing the shot, and proper positions on Saturday night).  After the Known Distance presentation, the students were able to get data on their rifles by measuring bullet drop at 100 yards (from a 25M zero).  The students got the opportunity to complete 3 AQT's on Sunday afternoon before a thunderstorm made the clinic end before the final "hits count" target.

Ben B requalified with a 239.  Huzzah!  Hannah C made constant improvement throughout the clinic and ended up with a high score of 208.  You will definitely make Riflewoman next time!  ;)

The students really enjoyed the great history presentations.  One student even commented that he wanted to hear more next time.  Will do, sir!

As Shoot Boss, I want to thank all of you for coming out and having such great attitudes.  Please come back again to one of our 25M rifle clinics or sign up for a Known Distance, Rimfire Known Distance, or Pistol Clinic.  We would love to see you again!

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"

Great job Tennessee Beast and crew.

Huzzah to all the students that came out. I am looking forward to seeing Hannah score a 210 or higher.

It was a pleasure to meet all of the students and see everyone improve! Keep practicing the 6 Steps, steady hold factors, and NPOA. Dryfire at home; you'll be amazed at the progress you make.

Please come and see us again. I'll put in a request for mild temperatures and no thunderstorms.  ;)
