There was a small but enthusiastic group for the first KD Rimfire event at the Parma Rod and Gun Club.   After running events at this range for 5 years, I felt that I could approach the board and ask for the main rifle line to hold a KD Rimfire event.   I expected this event to quickly sell out, as KD events are in large demand in the NW.   However, that was not the case, but 5 eager and skilled marksman showed up to participate in the event.

Luckily, a cold front passed through SW Idaho on Thursday and the temperatures were in the mid to upper 80s over the weekend.   The normal high temps for this time of year is over 100, which may have persuaded people against signing up.   There were a few sprinkles on Sunday morning and some wind gust up to 15mph, but overall it was a great weekend for the event.

The primary factor that can make a rimfire KD challenging is the wind.   Like I always say, "The only way to learn the effects of wind is to shoot in the wind".   Unfortunately, the winds were very calm this weekend and the few gusts were primarily from behind the shooters.  Therefore, this made for great conditions to get high scores on the rimfire KD AQT, and the shooters did their part.   Chad, Bryce, Tony and Gary all earned their rimfire KD patches, and Barry requalified as a rimfire KD rifleman.   Chad also earned his Distinguished rifleman with a score of 48/50 hits.  Gary and Jeff both earned their Morgan shingle patch on the Sunday morning cold bore shot at 125 yards.

The next KD event at the Parma R&GC is scheduled for Sept 30/Oct 1 weekend.   I am looking forward to seeing you at this event with your centerfire rifles.
