Catch-10-22

We had a great pistol clinic this past weekend at the AGC action bays in Marriottsville Maryland. Our state decided to bring the summery heat and humidity it is well known for - and it pretty much melted our crew and students. But everyone persisted and made the best of it.

Saturday started with the morning Red Coat which exposed a range of different skill and experience levels. We dove right into the core instruction and drills building precision and speed. That took us to a rousing First Strike at lunch, delivered by Phoebe. We moved through additional instruction and drills, culminating in the first PQT of the weekend. Luke, attending his first pistol clinic, delivered the first Pistoleerâ„¢ patch of the weekend with an impressive 235! We wrapped Saturday hot and tired but Red Coats showed substantial improvement with 3 buttons hit and 3 100s...but no clean targets.

We kicked off Sunday with Phoebe delivering Second Strike and Dangerous Old Men to inspire our shooters. After the Sunday morning Red Coat we did some refresher instruction and drills to lead into the PQT grind. Between each PQT we covered the Third Strike (thank you again Phoebe), the Onion of Self Defense, Belt and Holster demo, and of course Sam & Sam.

Luke continued to deliver excellent scores: 233, 220, 221, and the high score of the weekend of 242! His only sub-210 PQT of the weekend...was a 209. Luke also cleaned the final Red Coat to earn his Immortal 400 patch.

Sharif also had an excellent weekend, qualifying 4 times with a high score of 233. Huzzah!

Matt was oh so close with a 208 and 206 - he knows exactly what he needs to do next time and I know he will put in the dry and live fire practice to get over the hump. Brennan shot well all weekend and earned a 202 on his final PQT despite being exhausted. Ellen was in the 180s and Molly in the high 170s - they had some wonderful stages and will hopefully put it all together at the next clinic. Jordan and Carolyn were new shooters and learned quite a bit as well.

While I am proud of all of our participants for their improved marksmanship, it was clear that everyone got the most out of the history and were highly engaged in those discussions. Thank you all for persisting in difficult conditions - you make it worth it to be an instructor.

Thank you to all of our volunteers - you did a fantastic job and I appreciate all of your efforts. And thank you to AGC for being a great host range.
