The MVSA range in Hot Springs, AR was the site of Arkansas' second Pistol Clinic on Friday, April 14, 2023.  Eight students signed up to improve their pistol skills and hear some stories about the founding of this country.  All came with positive attitudes and a willingness to learn.  It was a great day for shooting!  A bit warm and humid, but no problems for this group, some of which traveled across the line from TN to attend.  All were wonderful, attentive students!  After the safety rules were given and explained, pistols were soon brought to the line and the work (fun!) began.  All learned new skills or honed up and improved a bit on what was already known about shooting a pistol.  Jim P and Frank were MVSA members who came out to learn and show their support for Appleseed.  Mark returned after attending last fall's pistol clinic and KD also held at MVSA.  Chad found his way even though GPS tried to throw him off the track (he wasn't the first sidetracked by the tricky GPS directions!).  Jim and Amy D were two that crossed the TN border to attend the event and then enjoy a relaxing weekend in Hot Springs. This was Amy's first Appleseed event and she did great! Drew came up from Louisiana for the Pistol Clinic and brought his father along for the 25m event that followed. Paul is one of our IIT's who came to try and prove himself again as he earned his patch at our last pistol clinic. This day saw Jim D. shoot a qualifying score that earned a Pistoleer™ patch.  Paul and Captain shot scores that requalified them as bona fide Pistoleer™s.  After a full day of instruction and plenty of lead sent downrange, we wrapped up the event and went home tired, but satisfied that it had been a day well spent.  A fantastic job from our instructors - Captain, Swiftongal, Buddy Love, Lurch, and Guns&Hoses (who arrived in the afternoon for the weekend's 25m event)!  Most asked question this day?  "When's the next one!"
Soon!

I'm relatively new to pistol shooting, if not to life, and have been shooting less than a year. I found this to be a very good class. The instructors from Captain Rob, Nat, Kyle, Randy and our IIT Paul were very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. I found the atmosphere very friendly and conducive to learning. I came away with several things to work on and the knowledge how to be successful. I've been busy since, but am on my way today to practice what I learned. I want to thank all that were involved. And if you'll allow me this plug, I'm very proud to belong to MVSA and was very happy when our president waived the range fee for the non-members of the class.

As a IIT I am learning at every opportunity. The same atmosphere of marksmanship, safety, and of course patriotism was present at this (my second) Appleseed Pistol Clinic. I have quite a bit more time behind a pistol than rifle (shooting USPSA, Steel Challenge) so I was very glad to offer suggestions when I could. I was able to shoot a new score of 242 that afternoon.
The weather was perfect, the class went very well, and bright1 and captain were able to pass along some patriots day history too. Thanks to MVSA and Jim Patton for hosting this event.
