Four hardy souls braved the weekend weather to hear the Story of April 19, 1775 and, incidentally, learn rifle marksmanship this past weekend.

The weather was fine on Sat - mid-50s and sunny - but turned wet and cold on Sunday, with a continuous mix of mist and drizzle all day.

Two were first-time Appleseeders; the other two had been to several.

Yet by Sunday the first-timers were using centerfires to put rounds on target at 300 yards! For one of our "firsties", it was the first time firing his centerfire!

Yep, if we are serious about our program and our teaching point that "a 25 meter zero is good at 200 (iron sights) and 300 (scopes and ARs with sights high in the carry handle)" then all you have to do is first fire a sighter group at 25, then put shots on paper at 300 yards, using your Rifleman's Trajectory if needed.

Wow, that 300 is a lo-o-ng way out there! Three football fields, if my math is right!

Yet our shooters, including the first-timers, had no problems connecting out there, at 300 yards!

Good bunch of students. A "pat on the back" for all of them.

But a return visit to the next Appleseed is indicated, to get that Rifleman Qualification Badge!

Hmmm, did I say it was cold and wet on Sunday? It was cold like it can only get cold when raining and in the 30s...people were going back to the cars to put on additional clothing...
