Another great time in Lansing.  Great people and the weather was not bad at all.

Congratulations to all who attended the Lansing Appleseed.  It was truly a pleasure to spend the weekend working on marksmanship and telling some of the wonderful stories of April 19, 1775.

There were several riflemen made over the weekend: Gary, Steve, Mike, Warren and Varis. Huzzah! nice job men.

Please post up any comments about the weekend.  We enjoy getting feedback.

It was a weekend full of great students and great instructors….
I was only there Saturday, here is the summary of the awesome Saturday!

Thank you to the instructors and to CASL for a great event.  Lots of great shooting took place, as well as some outstanding history stories.

MI Copperhead your history is fantastic!  Anyone listening can tell how much you love the topic, and how knowledgeable you are.

It was a great weekend.  Thanks for giving up your time to spread the marksmanship bug.

There is no Truth that I need to fear.

Pocket Watch

What a great weekend for Liberty!!!! It was awesome to have such a blend of new/returning shooters. I was happy to see the weather stayed nice albeit a little cold. Congratulations to the Rifleman and I know the ones knocking on the door will be putting what they learned into practice at their home ranges so that the next one there will be a patch with their name on it! On a final note remember the challenge given at the end of the event. Can you bring 14 people to a Project Appleseed event over the next year? Are you going to pay more attention to what is at stake at the ballot box? Call your representatives? None of those things takes that much time or effort. I look forward to seeing each of you on the line in the future.

What a fantastic weekend with a great group of participants and instructors. While the weather was cool it didn't seem to hinder our shooters. Having Gary shoot a 225 on Saturday's AQT was excellent as this was only his second Appleseed and it portended good things for Sunday as several other shooters were showing good shot groups. After Sunday's safety briefing and a quick review of each position's steady hold factors, the six steps to firing the shot and Natural Point Of Aim, the participants got into the AQT grind and 3 more new Rifleman were minted and one requalified before day's end. Congratulations to Steve, Warren, Varis and  Mike (NoLambo) ! Sunday's fun shoots showed our participants could work well in teams and they were rewarded with fabulous Project Appleseed prizes.
Congratulations also to our participants who didn't succeed in earning a Rifleman patch but show the quality of the motto "A Rifleman Persists". Josh, Brian, Eric, Alex, keep working on those fundamentals guys and there is little doubt that you will shoot the score next time around.
We had a great team of instructors capably led by our Shoot Boss, Superheat. It was an honor to finally get to instruct under him because he was an instructor at my first event way back in August of 2011, he also recruited me to take an orange hat in 2018 which I did in 2019. I have never regretted that step and consider Superheat a mentor as well as a friend.
It was great to get to work with Pocket Watch, tobuekoo(George) for the first time and Fidget and NoLambo again.
NoLambo I hope you will be able to get your schedule straightened out and get back on the IIT path. Thanks so much for your help on Sunday.
A big thanks to the Capitol Area Sportmens League for a great range and facilities to hold our event at. I look forward to returning here next year.

Great Fall Weather - Great Shooting - Great Weekend.
My third Appleseed, and the 'training portion' was the best by far. The Teaching of  the proper shooting positions, NPOA, Call your shot' etc - All very well done. It may seem obvious  - but there are many ways to set up incorrectly, to rush your shot, wreck the trigger pull,  to confuse the order of things. And that costs you MOA on the paper.  The instructors took far more time with each shooter - more 'one on one' time.    Thanks again to the Trainers.

This was my third Appleseed but my second as a participant.  As always, the instruction was outstanding in both marksmanship as well as the history.  George originally suggested a few years ago that I bring my son Alex to learn the fundamentals and I am grateful that he did so.  I have had the chance to meet some great people along the way, both instructors and participants.  I brought my closest friend with me this time and he saw firsthand what I have been talking about from everyone, but NoLambo in particular.  Mike let him use one of his rifles when he wasn't getting the desired results out of his own equipment.  Superheat did the same thing for Alex when his rifle failed to operate right out of the gate Saturday morning.  I am unaware of any other group of people that are so consistently helpful and generous.

There is real benefit in participating and learning from different instructors as they have different ways of explaining information.  That can make all the difference when trying to bring all the different learning points together.  There isn't a single moment when anyone is just "going through the motions" and although they clearly enjoy being there, all the instructors are focused and very dedicated.  I enjoyed seeing familiar faces this weekend as well as getting the chance to meet others.

Thank you for the chance to win the great prizes.  The Appleseed sticker looks great on my truck and the Culpeper Minute Men flag looks equally impressive in my home.  Alex is very proud of that flag and his progress as a whole.  It goes without saying that I am as well.

Appleseed really is the best kept secret in the shooting world and I will continue telling anyone that will listen in the hope that it stops being a secret. I will try and rise to the challenge set forth this weekend and recruit more people to attend an event.  NoLambo gave me some good advice about telling people at the range when they are struggling with equipment and I'm going to employ that tactic as often as possible.

Until next time, thank you patriots, one and all.  I will keep my eyes peeled for a winter shoot in Lapeer as I REALLY want the frozen rifleman patch.   :snipersmi

Well It was a challenging weekend on Saturday with some chilly weather and a very wet range. Sunday was much better. Been awhile since I spent two days on the Appleseed line but I was not disappointed. We made Four new Riflemen from 12 who showed up and there were at least four more knocking on the door who will make it soon. Super Heat did an excellent job as shoot boss and the Instructors, Pocketwatch, Fidget, Copperhead, and NoLAMBO who where here, were top notch. It was a pleasure to get back to it and put CASL back on the Appleseed Map. The message still resonates. We must Persevere.
