Even though the fringes of Hurricane Ian soaked the range with an inch-and-a-half of rain Saturday, six patriotic Americans endured the weather to polish their pistol skills and their understanding of our heritage this weekend.  These intrepid students showed steady progress in their marksmanship in spite of all that Mother Nature threw at us.

Thanks to Beaver Valley Rifle and Pistol Club, who has hosted Project Appleseed since 2009, and thanks to Texas T and jiminbolivar for providing the necessary manpower to insure this was a safe event.  Chip (210) and Steve (214) led the class in marksmanship proficiency, each also clearing multiple Hits Count targets in addition to earning Pistoleer™ patches.  Steve won both runs through the "Big Dot, Little Dot Challenge", the first with Julie trailing by a couple seconds and the second with Chip and TJ hot on his heels.

By Sunday afternoon the ammo was running low and morale was running high, a sure sign of a successful Project Appleseed weekend.

It's a great day when someone can clear the Hits Count target!

I would like to point out that Texas T's photos were taken early Saturday, and, with the exception of Steve, they all show great examples of how NOT to grip your pistol.   :slap:

By the end of the day the fundamentals had improved considerably, as the results verified.   &)

EZ3, THANK YOU!
I was going to write off the pistol clinic when I saw the tea cup and thumb punisher grips!

While the Appleseed Pistol Clinic was not originally conceived as a "basic pistol" class, we do get quite a few students with little or no experience.  Our goal is for everyone to go home with improved marksmanship skills and a greater understanding of our American heritage.

These pics are of shooting the Hits Count target right at the beginning of Saturday. No coaching at that point so the students were doing whatever they thought works.

Now I see how Julie got the slide bite. I can feel the pain getting ready to happen. Ouch!!!

Everyone improved substantially.
I don't always shoot AQT's, but when I do, I prefer iron sights.
