This was the last scheduled standard 25m AS event for the year at the Parma Range.   The weather usually starts cooling down and the limited number of hours of daylight starts to become a factor in running an event.    However, I do have some Winterseed patches in my shoot box, so I may have to schedule a winter event in 2023.

I would like to thank the Patriots that showed up for this event and came with set goals for the weekend.  Both Bryce and Ethan showed up with the goal to earn their Distinguished patches, Doug showed up to shoot his rifleman score and Jason and Tim showed up to learn how to shoot better.   The shooters did meet some of their goals, but not everyone achieved what they set out to accomplish.

Bryce shot is Distinguished score of 244 on the AQT shot on Saturday.   He did accomplished this goal with a Savage bolt action .22 rifle.   On Sunday, he shot many rifleman's scores, but was unable to repeat a score of 240+.

Ethan was able to shoot a couple scores in the 220s, but was unable to earn the Distinguished patch.   I am anxious to see Ethan continue to improve his scores by fine tuning his marksmanship techniques use dry practice at home.   I have a patch with your name it, waiting to award it to you.

Doug struggled with his sitting position due to a recent knee injury.   He struggled to find a stable position that would allow him to get a good score on Stage 2.   The rest of his AQT stages were shot well, but the lack of good Stage 2 scores kept him from shooting his rifleman's score.  His high score for the weekend was 199, so he is knocking on the door.

Tim and Jason showed great improvement in their markmanship fundamentals.   Remember to practice the techniques at home with dry practice on the comfort of the living room carpet (with a cleared and safe rifle).   Remember a key characteristic of a rifleman is persistence.   Only about 10% of the participants at an AS event earn their rifleman patch.  I expect to see you back at an event in 2023.
