Cold Warrior

It was very windy for our SOLD-OUT two-day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at the Leetown Gun Club, Isaac Walton League of America (IWLA), in Kearneysville, WV!
With the line full, we got right into the introductions and safety briefs.  We kicked off the history with the telling of the events of April 19th, 1775, and the birth of our Nation. Then we got into the instruction, and had a great first day! After a practice AQT, plus one more for score, and a Redcoat target, Four shooters cleared their Redcoat target, and three Rifleman scores were posted; Jay with a 224, Dave with a 227, and Aaron with a 232.  O0

Sunday morning, the wind picked up (destroying one of our pop-up tents) making for tough shooting conditions.  After the Safety brief, review, and a few sighters, we got right to the shooting. All shooters accepted the "Cold-bore Challenge" - four succeeded! Biff, Cory, Jay, and Aaron all put one right in the shingle on their first shot!
At lunchtime, the students heard about some Dangerous Old Men (DOM)!  We got six AQTs and other drills in, and had a great event.
Well done to everyone!

We had six shooters make Riflemen!
Here's the list:
Aaron 232, 229 (requal)
Ana 237 (requal)
Cory 236, 241 (Distinguished!)
Dave I. 227
Jay 224
Willie 228, 218, 227

Huzzah!

Several were close... Chang and Lily had shot with us before, and we saw HUGE improvements (Chang had a 205). Hua had three AQTs in the 190s - you are so close! Mike also, 197 on one of his targets.  And Morgan had a 209... we looked that target over closely, and could not find that extra point!  I am so proud of you all for how very well you have done.
We hope we see you back on the line soon.

A Rifleman Persists!

Thank you to our students that helped throughout the event with set-up & take down, clean-up, etc. Great job.
And remember the six steps of firing a shot?
1. Sight Alignment, 2. Sight Picture, 3. Respiratory Pause, 4. Focus, 5. Squeeze the Trigger, and 6. Follow-through.
Well; don't forget the seventh step - Tell everyone about Project Appleseed!
Thank you very much to our host range, the Leetown Gun Club (IWLA), in Kearneysville, WV.

And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors Alex (Tyrus Rechs), Jonathan (Reclaimer), and Ana (Justagirl).  Because of your dedication, focus, and professional demeanor, this was a very fun, yet safe and successful event.

"The hour is fast approaching, on which the Honor and Success of the Appleseed mission, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend. Remember citizens, that you are free men and women, fighting for the blessings of Liberty; that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity, if you do not acquit yourselves like Riflemen." ~ GW & Fred
