The day began with all students showing up ready to learn, even with a hot day in store.  After introductions and safety, we shot a redcoat target.  Then we proceeded to learn the 6 Steps of Firing the Shot before doing a trigger exercise to begin developing proper trigger control and breathing technique.  We followed that exercise with sling use, the prone position, Natural Point of Aim, and Rifleman's Cadence.  After taking a large swig from the firehose of instruction, we spent a good bit of one-on-one time with instructors to verify what we had learned before engaging our first square.  Follow up squares eventually led to learning Talking Targets.  We took a break for lunch, during which we heard the first strike of the match and learned IMC.

We returned to the line to shoot more squares and employ IMC.  We took a break to hear the second strike of the match before learning about the various seated positions.  We then took the time to try each of the positions before shooting one square with our seated position of choice.  Next we did a NPOA/mag change exercise to reinforce our use of the NPOA drill while practicing magazine changes.  After this, we shot stage 3 of the AQT.

After shooting stage 3, we took another afternoon break and heard the 3rd strike of the match.  We followed this with a quick discussion about the six o'clock hold and different size targets before engaging stage 2 of the AQT.  Next we learned about the standing position and completed stage 1 of the AQT.  We concluded our AQT by shooting stage 4, which yielded some scores in the 190's.  Huzzah!

We finished the day by shooting another red coat before our hearing our benediction.

I just want to extend another thank you to all of our shooters for completing the entire day and trying to implement what we were teaching.  All this was done in spite of the heat, without any complaining.

I enjoyed working with all of you.  Keep practicing your 6 steps, NPOA, and steady hold factors and you'll be a Rifleman before you know it.  I took a few pictures.  Hope to see you on the line again soon!
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.
John Lancaster Spalding

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"
- Richard Henry Lee, Declaration Signer

Virginia, Bob, and I all had a great time and learned a lot. We practiced some before we came, but now we have better information to work with. Thank you for a great day.
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

If you think you can, or think you cannot, either way you are correct.

It was a great day at the range. Hope to see all the shooters back on the line again soon
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
