Wow, what a great Appleseed at the Coshocton Gun Club near Coshocton, OH this past weekend.  We had 20 shooters show up Saturday morning looking to work on their skills.

We started the weekend with a welcome, introduction to the goals of RWVA and Project Appleseed, and our normal safety briefing.  This was followed by bringing rifles to the line and we started the event with the Sat morning Red Coat.

Results were impressive.  We had 14 of 20 put three rounds in the 100 yd target, 9 at 200, 9 at 300, 3 at 400 and 7 joined Daniel Morgan.  We had one cleared Red Coat, congrats Beth.  The Ohio Appleseed patch was awarded for the cleared Red Coat.

We moved to the points of instruction (POI).  The steady hold factors in prone were presented followed by the six steps and NPOA.  Drills were shot after each POI and we broke for lunch.

WildBillCody presented a great First Strike at lunch, and we returned to the line to continue our efforts.

Back on the line we presented the IMC (Inches-Minutes-Clicks) POI and shooters calculated their adjustments based on sighters shot just after lunch.  Sight adjustments were applied to their rifles and confirmation groups were fired.  This was followed by a second sight adjustment session with another confirmation string.

We then moved to the steady hold factors in seated followed by several drills.  The Second Strike was presented at the afternoon break by Cadence and we moved on to the steady hold factors in standing.  Drills were shot and we ended the day with the afternoon Red Coat.

Dramatic results were seen.  We had 17 of 20 at 100, 11 of 20 at 200, 12 of 20 at 300 and 4 of 20 at 400.  We had 7 folks join Daniel Morgan and we had three cleared Red Coats.  Huzzah!!!!  Congrats to Chewie, Michael and Donna.  The day ended with a third strike and a call to action by Corvette.

Sunday dawned sunny and pleasant and all the shooters returned for day two.  The morning Red Coat showed good results.  We had 16 of 20 at 100, 12 at 200, 8 at 300, 7 at 400, 10 joined Daniel Morgan and we had 3 more cleared Red Coats.  Congrats to Chewie, Beth and Will.

We then completed an NPOA drill on a green coat target and moved to the AQT grind.

We shot a practice AQT and a live one  that morning and we broke for lunch.  We had a KD lecture at lunch and returned to the line to shoot more AQTs.  Well the flood gates opened after lunch.

We had 13 qualifying scores (requalifications and new Riflemen).  Scores were shot by:
Beth(Requal):   213
Scott (Requal):   215,225
Talon (New):  213
Chewie (Requal, New Distinguished):  242,240,230,221
Josiah (New):   212
Camo Cowboy (Requal):  215, 215
Robin (Requal):  220
Mike (New):  216

To break up the AQT grind, we shot a team challenge in the afternoon.  We broke the line up into four five shooter groups.  We posted four 100 yd targets, one for each team.  Shooters were given instructions to load two rounds.  With five shooters with two rounds, the max score would be 50.  It was announced beforehand that ties would be broken by number of V hits.

Well, it was a really, really close challenge.  Scores were as follows:
Team 2 - 49/7 V's
Team 1 - 49/4 V's
Team 4 - 48/6 V's
Team 3 - 43/1 V

Congrats to Talon, Kelsie, Josiah, Chewie and Mike for your success on this challenge.

We then shot two more AQT's and the Sunday afternoon Red Coat. Results were strong and consistent with the morning Red Coat.   We had 19 of 19 at 100, 13 at 200, 9 at 300, 10 at 400 and 12 joined Daniel Morgan.  Wow, what a great group of shooters.

We closed the event with a final call to action for the shooters.

My deep thanks to all the shooters for having a safe and fun event and to the Instructors (St8Space, J Madison, WildBillCody, Camo Cowboy, Naga, Manik, Shadow870, AimbotV2, Cadence) who helped with the event.   Also, my thanks to the Coshocton Gun Club for hosting us again.  Huzzah!!! I hope to see all of you at a future Ohio event.  I have Rifleman patches waiting for each of you.  Remember that a Rifleman persists, never gives up and recognizes that a Rifleman's skills are not easily attained.

See you all soon.

This was my first time to the Coshocton Gun Club for an event but it won't be my last. Great facility with motivated students and an outstanding crew of instructors.

Congrats to our new riflemen and all the previous riflemen who requalified.  O0

Special shout out to Chewie for getting his Distinguished Rocker and also to ST8Space for his promotion to Red Hat Full Instructor.

It was a great weekend with amazing Instructors!  Every time I go, I learn so much.  I look forward to continuing to work with this great group! ^:)^

Here are the pictures I picked up over the weekend.

The grounds at Coshocton Gun Club are beautiful:

St8Space was working on finishing his redhat qualification,

and on Saturday afternoon when he finished the last requirement, Corvette held a little impromptu promotion party,

complete with all the accoutrements appropriate to his new rank.

On Sunday, Chewie picked up his distinguished rocker with a well deserved 242:

Talon collected his rifleman patch with a score of 223,

and Mike capped our weekend with a new rifleman's score of 216.

It was a wonderful weekend with perfect weather, an excellent group of students, and a great cadre of instructors.

Hope to see all of you down the trail soon,

Cody

Just realized I forgot to post these up from the shoot. Sorry for the delay.
