I love the Marlin 795, but my one big complaint is that scope rings tend to walk off the back of the dovetail rail. This pic rail from MCARBO looks like it might do the trick:

Aaaaaaaand my 60s are too old  ;D

But definitely worth looking at for the 795s. Thanks Dan!!

DI products has a bunch of after market products for the 795. I have purchased a few including the rail which works great.

I had the same problem with my 795's.

A rail is a must.  It eliminated that problem.

I saw mcarbo's rail... looks nice.  I bought my rails a couple years ago.. I think from diproducts...

I'll add that installing the diproducts trigger is the best thing I ever did to my Marlin 795.
Careful on the captive spring in the crossbolt safety though.

Mine hit the ceiling and fell right back in my lap... Someone was watching over me that day.

I finally got it!

Last week I ordered the pre-2008 rail for my 1989 Model 60.  I've used gear from MCARBO before.  All four of my marlins have benefitted from the trigger kits, which are extremely effective and very reasonably priced.  They are "fun" to install, as they consist mostly of a ton of springs, but that's Marlin's fault, not theirs. As the owner of four of these beauties (two 60s, and two 795s) you can imagine the cussing that went on by Mr. Smith during the installation of those kits.  I'm fortunate to still have him.  I'm pretty sure it was touch and go there for awhile  **)

Gents, this rail is a game-changer.

As I'm sure you've experienced yourselves, no amount of loctite and screw tightening can truly prevent the ring bases from "walking" off the dovetail on a 22 that gets used heavily. Once I had one fall right off the dang rifle right in the middle of a shoot. I was MORTIFIED.  Problem number two is the difficulty finding TRULY low height rings in a dovetail configuration.  Even the lowest require building up the cheek risers.  My personal Appleseed rifle is a model 60 with a Boyd's stock. Even that higher stock needs more lift to get me in proper alignment with the scope, and that's CRIMINAL given how pretty the stock is.  Vanity has me getting a "jaw weld" instead of a cheek weld that, while repeatable, gets damn uncomfortable after awhile.

The rail arrived Thursday, and was installed Friday, the eve of our inaugural Ladyseed here in El Paso.  I had some picatinny rings so low that even with the increased receiver height (just under 1/4 inch higher with the rail) I was able to more than compensate, to the point that I had to remove the factory rear sight ramp so the optical lens would have clearance.  Conclusion:  No more "jaw" weld!  I can finally get a REAL cheek weld without ugly-ing up my rifle!

I took it with me to the event, as I haven't requalified in some time, and took a few minutes on Saturday to zero.

Sunday during the Grind I had a chance to shoot an AQT, and pulled a 241 out of my butt.

The proof is in the pudding.

My other 60 and both my 795s WILL be getting this upgrade.

LOL LOL LOL - I almost just spewed my drink.

I do have a Model 60 - prob my most accurate 22LR. Although I'm absolutely having a blast with the Tippmann.

I have a Walther target peep that fits a model 60 dovetail perfectly, used with the stock front, it raises POI 75MOA to give me a 400yd zero for good challenging wind doping practice.  Somewhere I have a picture of HNHArmory trying it out at Marana.

No, badass would be if I was hitting 80%+ at 400 with a model 60, instead of my current 40%.  Until that day I think that the term you're looking for is "halfass."   :))

Give yourself some credit, Scott!  You're doing it with irons, dude! That earns you at LEAST a 3/4 ass.  O0
