TOMINCT

A new range (sort of), lots of new shooters and a club that went the distance to make a good shoot one of the best. What a way to spend time in Maine!

14 shooters made up the line for both days and took in the instruction at the standard fire hose pace. SHF's, 6 steps, NPOA, all went well and because of things running so smoothly the attendees were able to get in 3 AQT's by the end of the day.

The Saturday redcoat count is as follows:       AM              PM
                                                           100 yd     2                3
                                                           200 yd     2                4
                                                           300 yd     0                4 !!!!!
                                                           400 yd     2                2
                                                          shingle     1                5!!!!!!!!!

North Country Lady delivered the first and second strikes with The Old Guide finishing up with the 3rd strike.

The precipitation held off until late afternoon Sunday which allowed more personal attention given to the students by the IT crew. During the grind Jody became a Rifleman, followed by Brian and Kirk. Several folks pushed it hard, both Adam's in the low 200's and many others showing a lot of improvement.

The attendees were all great to work with with a great safety track record. Even with the usual equipment issues everyone went the distance. Great job!

Earlier it was mentioned that Skowhegan Sportsmans was a new (sort of) range. The club had been the host of the first AS shoot in Maine in the fall of 2009. Due to the efforts of Ami, Mark and Jason, plus the interest of the club in general, it all came together extremely well. Many club members and officers stopped by to see what we were about and left suitably impressed. We look forward to having events there in the future.

The club had a new target line up for the event and finished repairing the backstop only the day before and we hope their range repair and expansion go unhindered.

A special thank you goes to club member Ron, who donated 2 bricks of Aguila ammo for the cause. It will be used for the Maine trying hard Jr. rifle shooters.

Kirk and Brian have also stated their interest in becoming IIT's so as they say on TV, stay tuned!

And lastly,  a great instructor crew with The Old Guide, North Country Lady and resq2piper rounding the list up. It made the weekend run smoothly and all the hands involved made it run like the proverbial well oiled machine. Thanks to you all.

Some pics should be up soon. Regards, Tominct.

The Old Guide

We can't say enough about this club. They went all out for us including providing four First Up type canopies to shelter us from the sun and rain. They provided lunches at the firing line. We had a great group of shooters of all ages from novice to competitive shooters. All improved their accuracy. Club officials sent us E-mails yesterday inviting us back.

There were a matched pair of LTRs on the line brought by a father and son team. Of the 10/22s on the line, there were no two alike. However, it was interesting that all of the 10/22s on the line arrived with auto bolt releases. The word is finally out on this time saving modification to the venerable 10/22.

It was good to have TominCT back in Maine, his second home. Tom was the backbone of Maine Appleseed for years and we appreciate it.
Our history is not a list of dates and places. It is a dynamic adventure of freedom and individual courage.
