Lever actions and loosely seated ammo

Was shooting with a friend, and we noticed that a Henry lever action we were using was having some issues
with Winchester bulk white box 525 packs. Seems that on the way from the cartridge lifter to the mouth of
the chamber, the rifle depends on the tip of the bullet to guide the round into the chamber. This results in
the round going from about a 40 degree tilt upwards down to zero as it enters the chamber.

Problem was, the bullet was being pushed into a canted angle from the cartridge, ie, the bullet now sat
in the case at a 35ish degree angle. Sometimes, via needlenose pliers, we extracted the bent round out
the ejection port, other times, we lined it up with the chamber and guided it into position and shot it normally.

This problem occurred with Winchester White Box and not bulk Remington Golden Bullet which we also had.
I have some other ammo which we will try next time. The Winchester rounds appear to be seated in a looser,
more wobbly manner than other ammo with which I am familiar. This seems to be lever action / tube mag related
due to the reciprocal and lifting nature of the action, as opposed to box mag stripping off the top round.

Appleseed takeaway on this is to perhaps to discuss what to do in the event of a jam.

Perhaps this should be in the ammo section, I figured 50/50, move it if need be.

Would this be something we'd pull the whole box of ammo off the line for and call the manufacturer to let them know about?

Can we allow the rifle to stay on the line or should we allow them to continue shooting their own rifle if they desire?

I would:

1. Trade the shooter some different ammo from an instructor's stash.
2. Perhaps call the manufacturer and mention this occurs and did they know, as opposed to asking for a safety recall.
3. I would allow the rifle to stay on the line provided it did not do that with other brands of ammo.
4. Since the instructor's manual says to offer them a box mag fed rifle from the get-go, I would reiterate the offer and let the shooter decide.
