Mr Pete

Another great weekend for Liberty.

On probably the last weekend of easy weather for a while we had 11 step to the line.

Todd and Erica were joyfully drinking from that firehose...even if there was a bit of back and forth competition.  John seemed like he was taking a whole separate course on gunsmithing.  Glad it all got sorted.  Brian had steady improvement and I hope that John guy returns your scored AQTs to prove it...just ignore the one with 80 holes in it.

Mike (a CFRPC RO) toughed it out with nary a whimper through our many position changes.  As we said, the cream of the crop are not cowed by a little adversity.  Katie and David (a reconfirmed rifleman with a score of 222) 7th'ed stepped Justin who was scoring in the 170's for his first time out.

Pics and more comments later.

-Peter

ps.  My offer stands.  If any of you (especially Ed, Scott and Nour) need some review just give me a call and we'll head off to the CFRPC.

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated!   O0

Here are a few pictures from this weekend.  Special thanks to MrPete and to Smoak for putting their own collectible rifles on the line for the shooters to try.

Hey xsquidgator,

I take it from your avatar and handle that you were a submarine officer that graduated from UF?

I graduated UF in '86 as a NUPOC and ended up serving on the USS SeaDevil and USS Daniel Webster out of Charleston.

Hey Bubblehead,
Sort of but not exactly like you.  I was a NUPOC (OCS 8806) also but did undergrad at UT (Tennessee).  JO tour on the USS Francis Scott Key and a Shift Eng tour at NPTU Chasn.  Went to UF for grad school hence the gator bit.  (Too many people see that and think brownwater Navy!)

BubbleHead

I was a shift eng at NPTU Charleston as well.  I was actually on the crew that converted the Daniel Webster to the moored training ship.  I then served three years as shift eng on Crew B.  What years were you there?

Mr Pete

I am constantly amazed at the will of Appleseeders.

They come as a strangers who pay to get beaten for a weekend.  Through it all they are constantly improving, absorbing and learning to appreciate everything around them.

Hard work will allow you to rise beyond hopes and expectations.  More than any amount of words or subjective praise the proof is on paper for all to see.

Never fired a Garand.
Never fired a centerfire rifle much less a .30-06.

Pshaw!  I know how to do this, I'm an American Rifleman.

I am never disappointed at an Appleseed,

I signed up for July.  It will be my first Appleseed, really looking forward to it!

I am driving up from South Florida.  Any recommendations on a good place to stay?  I checked the local KOA campground, their cabins are all booked... I don't mind camping in a tent, but would prefer to either have A/C or more camping privacy than offered at a KOA.

For motels, the closest is about 20 minutes away at Orlando Intl Airport, on Semoran Blvd/ Hwy 436.

Thanks, Xsquid.  Seems like we have something else in common, I'm an old SWO.  Maybe meet you at the Orlando shoot!
