A glorious day for Liberty! Saturday morning was cool and clear and 16 budding marksmen showed up to improve their shooting abilities--and to learn of their American heritage. Our capable instructors taught the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and gradually the shooting abilities did improve. Folks left with not only improved skills with a rifle but hopefully, a new understanding of the sacrifices, choices, and performance made by a generation long dead: those Patriots of April 19th, 1775. The final Redcoat target showed much improvement and our instructors felt very well paid indeed. While there were no new Riflemen revealed, we did have several who were able to repeat the Rifleman score and at least two individuals who were mere points away from taking home a Rifleman patch. Congratulations to Cheri; you have not lost your touch! Chris and Daniel: with only one better placed shot, you both would be wearing a shiny new patch. For everyone: dry fire is key. Perfect practice daily will yield amazing results. We'll see you at the next Appleseed. If anyone has photos, feel free to share them and your comments.
The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

Does it get any better than a beautiful weekend at the range with a great group of Americans?  All the students showed progress over the weekend, as shown by their targets.  And targets do not lie!  We had great attitudes, determination, and focus all displayed on the line.  I fully expect more Rifleman to join the ranks with some dry fire.

Remember: Position, NPOA, and the Six Steps!  If you have any questions, there are many, many instructors here who are eager to share their knowledge.

Don't forget the 7th and most important step.  What are you doing to preserve liberty for our posterity? You heard the stories of sacrifices made, the price paid, and the difference one person, even with a small action, can make.  Compared to what that generation gave, what is 15 minutes a week to tell your representatives what you want?  Tell your friends, family and coworkers of the value of liberty and invite them to an Appleseed to hear the stories for themselves.

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles." - Patrick Henry

The love of Liberty can be contagious and what is needed is an epidemic. Be a carrier. There is a tipping point at some time where an obscure idea suddenly becomes mainstream. That tipping point was reached in 1775 and resulted in a new nation--the most prosperous and free nation on earth. We are in need of another tipping point where people determine again to be free. It is up to us to be the tireless, irate minority that sets the brushfires of freedom in the minds of our fellow Americans.

Somehow, photography did not get much attention over the weekend but here are a few for your enjoyment. If you have photos to share, let's see them!

I will be seeing you again in August! Can't believe i didnt get my patch... darn rifle(easier to blame equipment than lack of practice). Unfortunatly i got called in for work and missed the second day but next time i will make sure its wide open. Maybe i can drag my mom (Cheri) along and we can get our inferno patches since august down here usually provides us with unrelenting heat. Or maybe we will be fortunate and get rain and play in the mud! Either way i will be attending. As always the instructors were awesome and luckily very patient with us. However we did miss Smoake this time! Thanks, now time to track down some more .22 lr!

I will be sure to let Smoak know he shoulda been there. In August in St. Augustine, I can promise that it will be either hot or rainy or both. Can you say "Inferno-seed"? I am occasionally seeing .22 ammo but the new normal price seems to be around $.10 a round. Makes dry fire even more valuable, don't it?

Absolutley, i'm looking at some high power pellet rifles to use in the back yard for some extra practice. Dry firing is great practice but its nice to see it on paper occasionally and not having to find a range that will let me shoot prone or seated.
Yeah i've been ripped off a couple times buying ammo recently but i guess thats supply and demand. I found a couple decent web sites though to order from, I really miss those days of driving to wal-mart and getting whatever i needed...

This was my 3rd Appleseed and as ever I enjoyed every minute of it. I was grateful for the forethought to take Monday off to recover LOL. Every time I take it I am blown away by the stories and being reminded of the scarifies our forefathers and mothers made. I am proud to have 2 purple rifleman patches in honor of Ms Oughtnaught. Thank you all for the patience and willingness to volunteer your weekends to promote such a great cause.
PS I usually take lots of pics but left my phone home the second day. A picture of the women was taken, I hope he posts it!

No I do not work for Midway, Just using their catalog to show, what type of parts to use. Most of the things shown can be done at home If You are handy with hand tools. Also the use of a large clear plastic Bag much like a dry cleaners bag will help keep small parts nearby.

the scope mount shown above is the same brand as was on the loaner You used Sunday.

I hope to Shoot with You again soon.

Sorry I missed this one. I promise to get back on the line soon! My DAT (Dedicated Appleseed Truck) is still packed with my AS gear!
"Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing." - Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791
