Busy forty-eight hours this weekend, but the Seahawks won without my attention.

Learned and practiced in preparation for 2014.

... to catch the fire in another American for sharing the skills and our heritage to our posterity. Maybe my perfect shots will be made by those I met along the trials and trails of Appleseed. I know that America is a nation of Riflemen.

This was an amazing opportunity for the Washington and Oregon Instructor cadre.  Instructors from far-flung regions of these two states assembled this past weekend at the Venersborg Historic Schoolhouse in Battleground, WA, with an eye on refining their skills as RWVA Instructors.

Two full days of instruction never seems like enough time to cover everything that we would like to, but I am confident that all who attended, including myself, walked away with a better understanding of how to teach the various instructional modules which are presented at an Appleseed.

The Instructors-In-Training walked away with a firm understanding of the what/how/why's of what we teach, confident in their ability to coach their students from mere rifle-owner to Rifleman.

The Instructors and Shoot Bosses in attendance were able to refine their presentations, allowing for maximum student retention of the information presented.  Rather than having to sand down the rough spots, I was very pleased that these instructors came with a firm understanding of the fundamentals of instruction, allowing them to focus their efforts on polishing techniques to a mirror-shine.

If you are considering attending a Project Appleseed marksmanship clinic in either Oregon or Washington, I can assure you that you will be dealing with some of the very best marksmanship instructors to be found anywhere in the world.

Shooters!  To the line!

ItsanSKS - thank you for coming down from Alaska to instruct our IBC.  It was very informative and inspiring.

I wish all of the instructors from Washington and Oregon could have made it last weekend.  We were taught how to instruct in a simple and precise way.  We broke up into small groups and practiced instructing different aspects of rifle marksmanship.  The triage drill at the end of the day Sunday was excellent.  The instructors' boost in confidence was obvious as they identified command shooter errors (modeled by 4 shoot bosses at different troubleshooting stations).

To all of the other instructors who attended - thank you for coming.  It was a pleasure learning alongside you and getting to know you all better.  We had instructors come from as far south as central Oregon; as far north as Arlington, Washington; and as far east as eastern Idaho.  Thanks to everyone who chipped in and helped with food.  The elk burgers we barbecued and ate for Saturday dinner were great!

Each IBC helps our instructor corps get better.  Even though I am a shoot boss and have been to a previous IBC, I learned a lot.  When there is an IBC in your part of the country, don't miss the opportunity to attend.  You won't regret it.

I'll admit that when this IBC was first being planned, I wasn't planning to go.  I had other things I wanted to do with this weekend.  But when an email with the tentative curriculum went out a while back, I cancelled those other plans and committed myself to being at the IBC both days.  Now that it's over, I can't begin to express how glad I am that I did it.  It was fun, the instruction was excellent, and I learned TONS.  Now I'm eager to get in the mud with some students and pass it on!
