I've had fair luck with Federal bulk. It isn't as good as CCI. I've found that CCI Blazer shoots almost as well as the CCI mini-mag for about half the price when you can find it on sale. I wanted to see if the mini-mag was enough better to justify the additional expense so I shot some groups at 25 yards. My conclusion is that the mini-mag is slightly better than the Blazer, but not twice as good. See the two attached pictures. Each group is five shots. One key factor to consider is that the Blazer is straight lead where the mini-mag is coated. So if you are worried about exposure to lead you might go with the mini-mag.

For what it's worth, I have been measuring "rim thickness" since 1994. I buy whatever I can find, single 50 round boxes, bulk, etc. I sort all the ammo I shoot at matches and Appleseed shoots. Have miss-fires once in a while but overall , precision is way up. I shoot up a group of ammo that measures the same and when that is gone, I re-sight using the next measured group and so on. I never mix brands in the same magazine.

To me that looks like nothing more than the control group coming into play on the "better" ammo. If you were to take the Pepsi Challenge and/or add in the placebo effect I bet they'd group so similarly you wouldn't even notice.
