Pellet rifle recommendation?

I know occasionally people shoot pellet guns at Appleseed for legal or other reasons. Is there a preferred model?

I have 4 of the used CMP Daisey rifles.  $100 They come with peep sights are accurate and fun and have a place to attach a sling! They are probably the best value out there.  There are better air guns but at a higher price point.

In another thread I wrote up how I cock them with minimal breaking of position.

besides repeatedly breaking and finding NPOA really helps you learn to find it quickly.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

For the price they (the CPM) can't be beat. They are actually AVANTI Air Rifles. but you will not get the 25 meter 10 shots in 55 seconds with a transition with these, as they are one pump single shot, you loose NPOA with each shot.
There are many things talked about that make the people of the US
different; being riflemen is one, asking why is another, as is getting
what needs doing done.

I have a Walther LGR single stroke pnumatic that has the charging lever swing out to the right side, hinged at the rear of the receiver - if you're right handed that means you can recharge and reload without fully breaking position, moving only your trigger arm.  You're still looking at about 6 seconds minimum per shot though, and that only with practice; and when you can find them (LGRs aren't manufactured anymore) they're still at least 3 times the cost of the CMP Daisys.  To keep up with semi-auto firearms on the timed portions, you need a CO2 or pre-compressed air powered repeater, the affordable "BB gun grade" ones tend to be wildly inaccurate; accurate Olympic grade ones are "HOLY COW" expensive.

For an Appleseed in a "no firearms" area, I'd recommend the CMP Daisies, using modified AQT times.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

I just bought one of these Daisy Winchester Model 14 rifles before heading out to Texas

I haven't had the opportunity to buy CO2 carttriges and try it yet, but it has 8 round clips and semi-automatic blowback action.
The British learned to dread the frequent appearances of this dire rider at unexpected points along the route of their passage, for his aim was true, and the economical principles in which he was trained forbade his wasting powder and ball.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I saw that M14 replica a while back but with the protruding magazine I'm not sure how well I could shoot it prone.

I'm looking for something I can practice with in the yard. My local range doesn't allow shooting from any position except standing or at a bench at the 25 and 50 meter lines, and at the 100 meter line you can't place targets any closer. I'm not worried about shooting a timed AQT with it so reload time isn't really an issue. But it'd be nice to have more than a single shot in the magazine so I could practice maintaining NPOA in a string.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
My school used the CMP Daisy 853Cs for gym classes, grades 6-12.  If the gym classes couldn't break them, no one else can.  The C model comes with a 5-round horizontal pellet magazine (as well as the single shot rubber breach insert - each cycling of the bolt advances the magazine 1 round, and the rifle still has to be manually cocked for each shot.
Daisy also has a video showing step by step how to replace the seals in the rifle - only real maintenance service to be done...
Highly recommend for practice; other areas of the site have 10 meter targets - can practice in your backyard-basement - hallway...
great for practicing the SHFs and sling use.  Not only are the sights more than acceptable, but some of the CMP $100 rifles even have raised cheek pieces on their butts and multiple butt pieces to adjust length of pull...
Have also used in NY State for under 12 y.o. shooters, who by state law are not allowed to fire a cartridge firearm.
At $100 each from CMP, recommend would be good item to have in your complement of tools...so to speak.

PS   And keep an eye out for the next CMP sale:   5k of .22 ammo...last price was $160 each.
