Wow what a weekend!

Shoot started out with wind at 25 MPH and higher gust on Saturday :wb:. Everything that was not nailed down got blown around. Shooters started out as most other shoots but this one had that feeling to it. Yes this would be a good weekend. All seemed to really soak up every bit of instruction and then started to apply what we were teaching.  Groups shrank with each square we fired.

We had no Rifleman patches given out on Saturday.  :'( I had plenty wanting a good home but no takers. I was beginning to wonder if my feeling was wrong.

Sunday started a bit colder but no wind! Because of range rules we could not shoot till after 1 P.M.  So we improvised and overcame. We had a bit more history and Bama gave one of his thought provoking speeches.
As we got started that feeling came back.....  After 2 pages of squares we got to the AQT's.  A few shooters were right at the line of getting a patch. Next aqt  ^:)^ Success a patch was earned. Next AQT another one earned. After all was said and done we gave 4 patches away and 2 orange hat's.

Numbers for Saturday 13 Shooters.

Numbers for Sunday  8 shooters. 4 patches and 2 orange hats.

I would like to say special thanks to : Lady Zipper, Brain Mylar, Duhon and Bama! Yall made this a very special event and I think the results speak for themselvs. It is a pleasure working with each of you.

EDIT: Someone left a pair of elbow pads on the range. P.M  me and I will get them to you.

Great Shoot. It was a pleasure to work with everyone. Remember the 7th step to firing the shot. Tell EVERYONE about Appleseed.

I actually fired mine on the first and third AQTs.  On the second one I miscounted the number of rounds I put in one mag and shorted myself two rounds so I didn't turn it in for scoring.

It was great being there, except for the wind.  It was wild to watch rifles spin sitting on the firing line.

I can only attribute the high percentage of Rifleman patches being earned to two things, outstanding instruction on the part of you guys and our open minds plus our willingness to learn.  Even with the wind on Saturday, the short shooting time on Sunday and the malfunctions that seemed to plague a few of us; all of us persevered.

I hope we can share the firing line again.

The wind didn't chill the enthusiasm out there.  There was incredible camaraderie on the Line.  Shouts of encouragement rang out between every stage.  I know I was energized by the support from my fellow shooters, including my son Topper, who insisted that I shoot Rifleman while he was there to see it (he has to miss Biloxi next week).  And so I did.

Thanks to Shoot Boss Brandon1 for his excellent leadership and to Bama, LadyZipper, DUHON, and Brain Mylar for keeping us on task so efficiently.  Alabama has a very fine cast of instructors.  Their tips took me from knocking on the door to squeezing through it.  And, more importantly, they got me to thinking even more about our Founding Fathers and those who threaten our liberty (insert hat tip to Bama here).

We look forward to seeing you on the Line soon.

Dan, I guess you and Gordon get to abuse me with your shiny new orange hats in Biloxi on Sunday.  ;)

Marty, having seen you shoot, I expect the instruction to flow the other way.  Any time you want to school me, have at it.  See you Saturday.

I wanna thank everyone from Appleseed for the time and effort they gave this weekend. I bout lost my cool a couple times but was able to stay in the zone because of them.

Ordered my shooting jacket today and love the new orange hat! I'm in the market for a new one, maybe a orange boonie.

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."   T Paine

Thanks to everyone there. My son and I were able to attend our first Appleseed, and had a great time. I have to admit the hardest part was not getting in the way of the instructors trying to teach my son good rifleman skills. As a dad my instinct was to try and help, but I wanted us both to learn new, and better skills.

I learned alot and so did he. Unfortunately we could not make it Sunday, and never got our fingers on the rifleman patch, but maybe next time. In the meanwhile we have some targets set up and will continue practicing what we learned.

Thanks again to all of the instructors.  O0
