It was a great weekend for Appleseed here in Sacramento! Our weather was a bit humid (for NorCal) but a pleasant mid-to-upper 80s.

We had eleven shooters on Saturday with seven returning on Sunday. Several absolutely new, never-handled-a-rifle, guests made quick progress in honing their skills, while maintaining safety throughout.

For the first time in Sacramento Appleseed history Marlin rifles were the dominant force, including Mike, who gave his best effort with his 30-30 lever action (until a mechanical issue sidelined that rifle... he made GREAT progress with an LTR on Sunday).

Groups got tighter, courses of fire were being done "by the numbers", and the results speak for themselves. We saw three new riflemen scores and several repeat rifleman scores from our "cozy" group.  Scott, with his 210 during this, his 5th AS, Alex, with his 210 during this, his 4th AS, and Lenny, who on his first visit with us, scored a 211.  Great job everyone!

I am happy to announce that Scott and Alex both stepped up to accept the "Orange Hat" and join us in the ranks as IITs! Having seen both men's perseverance and "can do" attitude, that they will be great assets to Project Appleseed.

The history was delivered with the heart and respect due and the attentiveness of the shooters was well received.

It was great making new friends and seeing die-hard staff and Appleseed family come out again to make this a fun, safe and rewarding Appleseed.

I look forward to seeing some of the photos that I am sure are going to be shared...

All the best,

Dude, have you ever even read the Constitution? Yeah, didn't think so... Read it and you'll see why I'm pissed off!

Nukechaser, thanks for all of the encouragement as well as the use of your rifle.  Once I hone my skills I will return with the 30-30!!!

Yes, my pictures were huge, sorry. No wonder it took so long to download em. ::sigh::

What a great bunch of Instructors and shooters this last Appleseed at Sac Valley! I loved that we had some new ladies who came out! I look forward to seeing them back soon. It was HOT out here, and yet, the shooters rocked.

I will go back later and try to modify my posts, so you know who is in the pics. The pics of the SCARY snake......lol. It was thought that it was a rattler. I have lived out here 2.5 years without seeing a rattle snake yet.........Rod walks up, and the consensus was to "kill the baby rattlesnake". Rod bends over and picks it up.........the crowd look ill, and back up. "Ah, it's just a rat snake", says Rod. "anybody want to hold him?"

No takers........odd.

Thanks to all the shooters who hung in there with us in the hot weather, and congrats to the new Riflemen!!

I am tickled to get new IIT's too! Woot.

More later, I have been sitting here for 2 hrs.

Jules needs to reduce her pics next time :slap:      ( says Rod)

Nice photos, thanks for uploading them.

My favorite has to be Scott being drenched by the grinning Hambone.

Congratulations Scott and welcome to the team.

Sounds like another great Appleseed weekend at the West Sacramento Gun Club, with a fine group of shooters.  I wish I had been able to be there.  Scott and Alex congratulations on the Rifleman scores and welcome to the Appleseed instructor ranks.  Jules, thanks for posting the great photos.  See you all on the Appleseed Trail.
