The heat did not stop a great shoot in Knob Creek this weekend. Shooters drank long from the Appleseed Fire Hose and all walked away with huge smiles, a better understanding of their American Heritage, and geez Louise they learned a little rifle marksmanship along the way!

Congratulations Shane, Kentucky's newest RIFLEMAN

Congratulations Aubrey, for Re-qualifying that RIFLEMAN score and becoming Kentucky's newest Orange Hat

Congratulations Kevin V. Kentucky's newest AppleCore (even though you have supported the mission for years--it is just kind of official now---LOL)

Blair and Don you guys are right there, I see RIFLEMAN patches in your future, no doubt about it!! Blair you can really rock that bolt!  Don, oh soooooooooooo close. Next time brother!! Plus, who would have guessed I would drive all the way down to Knob Creek and see an Athens News T-shirt??

Isaiah, little man you never ceased to amaze me this week end. Starting out on a bolt action, moving to the semi auto, persevering to get those shots on paper and then improving with each course of fire. WOW, you can be a "designated sniper" on my line anytime!! It was fun watching you race Mudcat to the target line, even when you out ran him and your shoes too **) **)

David much improvement this weekend, sorry the Nagant worked your shoulder over Sunday morning. Keep practicing at home---DRY FIRE DRY FIRE DRY FIRE!! A RIFLEMAN patch is in your future.

Ruth, we missed having you on the line Sunday! Thanks so much for the 'Muster Day' Bread, it was really, really good. You showed so much improvement all day Saturday and endured the heat!!

Greg, we missed you Sunday too! We understand, a man has to work. Nice groups, a couple more AQTs and that RIFLEMAN' s patch is right there O0 O0

Dick, what persistence you showed! Your groups improved all weekend, even when we had you on the downhill slant and uneven terrain.  :slap: :slap: Promise to improve your shooting platform next time--thinking a piece of plywood would probably work pretty good.

Unbridled_Liberty, FMJ, and Mudcat it was an honor and a pleasure working the line wiht you this weekend. thanks for letting me border raid! Kentucky Windage thanks for stopping by, a pleasure to meet you sir! Thanks for taking pictures too.

As always a huge THANK YOU to Kenny and Knob Creek Gun Range for another great weekend toward saving USS AMERICA!!!

Congratulations new Riflemen and welcome aboard

Awsome shoot. Just wanted to say thanks to all the instructors for all there help and the people that came out to the shoot. I look forward to being part of the appleseed crew and helping out at future shoots. Thanks again

Mudcat

What a great event and great shooters from the left side to the right side of the line every one. I fully enjoyed everyone and believe you all will become Riflemen and women soon. Talk about persistence Blair down in the dust and dirt after crashing her motorcycle on the way down the hill Saturday morning. She never gave up and became more and more determined as Sunday wore on. Wow 198 with a bolt action was a great accomplishment for sure.
Don what can I say 209 that is a heart breaker for sure. If the rifle had held together it would have been a different story for sure. You are there.
Aubs and Shane you guys were a hoot, with the friendship you guys have it was enjoyable to be with you guys all weekend. I thought you guys were going to be wresteling there for a bit well all afternoon on Sunday.  &) You both made Rifleman though and we had some good laughs too. I cannot wait to see you both on the line again actually behind the line next time for Aubry.
Ruth I was pleased to finally get to meet you after hearing about you. too bad you could not make it back on Sunday but I heard you were 7th stepping already. Great job!! You was doing an awesome job and look for you to make it a 3 Rifleman family soon.
Greg the left handed shooter Greg this time. I believe we made some progress with your position this weekend. I will be looking for you back in Sept too.
Dick, what can I say you are a go getter. Never giving up and showing improvement all weekend. I believe I have something for you before the next shoot that will help you. I just noticed it looking at the pics. You are one guy on wheels that I do not want to be down range of for sure.
Great times and great Americans at KCR what a way to spend my weekend. I hope to see you all on the line again soon!

Here are some pics.....(sorry about the delay!)

What a great benediction given by Ratchett after a hot, but fruitful weekend!

Aubrey picking up the Orange hat at the start of the Appleseed Trail!

Aaron getting da PATCH BABY!

Blair & Unbridled Liberty smoking an AQT

FMJ being honored with the Sons of Liberty patch.

Mudcat and FMJ watching the AQT action....

Dick, making that Ruger 10/22 sing!

What can I say....the Dynamic duo?....Peanut butter & Jelly?.....Gary and Ace.....
Nope, Just Aubrey and Shane shooting each other's targets!

For the short time that I was there, I could see that this was a good group of shooters that I am sorry that I missed. Hopefully some of the ones that were 'on the bubble' will return in Sept so I can get aquainted and so that they can earn the patch and help begin bailing.

lol @ Ace & Gary   **)

What a blast.  I'd heard a lot of good things about the Project Appleseed events but hadn't ever experienced one before.  I really learned a lot about both history and shooting techniques and had a great time doing so.  It's great to see the passion that the RWVA folks show for what they're out there doing.

I'm really glad that Mudcat talked me into participating!

Thanks for having me and thanks for doing what you do  :)
