Well this for me is what Appleseed is about.  Seven youths (most first time shooters) on Saturday made this a great experience for all involved.  They are home-schooled and listened well.  Their parents participated in both shooting and helping out the instructors.  I think Corpus has a future with them.

We also have two new Riflemen/IITs.  TJ and Bob have both entered the ranks of Appleseed instructors.  Thank you both and I look forward to working with you in the future.

Thank you to EyeQ for his BOTG marketing effort in Corpus, and Keepmvg and zonkertx for traveling with me to the shoot.

Until next time...

Having families with so many kids involved is what makes Appleseed so great.

The comradery with TJ and Bob was great entertainment all weekend.

This was a great group that made my weekend rewarding.

EyeQ - You did a great job putting this together

Dragit, Zonkertx - Thank you for being the great coaches that you are.

White House

Thank you to all of the Appleseed instructors for a great day of instruction and history!  We had great weather and a cool breeze.  Our family enjoyed the camaraderie of the participants, too.  We look forward to attending another event.

The only negative was out of your control.  My husband, a vet, wasn't so keen on the bullets that whizzed over our heads from others unrelated to the event.

I have found the Paul Revere book online, but must have remembered the Dangerous Old Octogenarian's name as I cannot find him on the internet.  Can you help or is he in the Revere book?  We want more of this history we've never heard before!

Thanks for a fantastic family time!

Another great shoot!  Congrats to TJ and Bob for shooting Rifleman scores and accepting blindingly orange hats!  I can't wait to start working shoots with these guys..

I thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone's groups shrink as the weekend went on.  The ricochets from other bays were rather disconcerting, but I think anything that had a high enough angle to go over the berm but land in our bay would not have had much energy left to do serious damage.  The sound of rounds inbound still makes me nervous, despite several feet of dirt between me and them.

Unfortunately, what I thought was allergies turned out to be a nasty cold.  Hope I didn't spread it to anyone...  I'm getting over it now.

Thanks for the pictures Zonkers!

This really was a great shoot here in Corpus.  Besides being one of the larger shoots it was also one of the shoots that I had to be more adaptive on.  Those t-posts you were going to use?  Stolen, got to find replacements.  The backing boards you knew you had two weeks before?  Oops, somehow they got thrown out, scrounge for cardboard and plywood.  Got a sisters graduation that they had to schedule on Sat and you must be at?  Texas Appleseed instructors step up to the plate and become adaptive to handle a large crowd safely and proficiently. <Very special thanks to Tommy, Mark, and Everett for showing up and handling the shoot!  Also thank you Pop for helping me with promo, and admin work.

I showed up on Sat morning and stayed long enough to talk to some of the shooters and see the first redcoat shot, then off to a sisters graduation.  Thanks to all who came Saturday and I look forward to seeing ya'll at shoots in the future.  :---

Sunday found us early out on the range and ready to forge some new rifleman.  It was cloudy and cool, if a bit windy, and we quickly got through sighting in our rifles and moving on into the AQT grind.  However during our sight ins and as we were keeping our eyes on a storm cloud that luckily slid to the south of us(0% precip. chance ++) ) several more shooters showed up.  Among them was an Appleseeder who had been out to our shoots before and earned his Rifleman patch.  Art Bailey it was a pleasure seeing you again and I hope to see you again this fall!

The rest of Sunday went very quickly and without much incident.  Before the end of the day two new riflemen were born and all of our other shooters had gained significant, measurable rifle marksmanship improvement.  Congratulations to all our shooters for sticking with it and to TJ and Bob for earning their rifleman patches and taking on the Orange hat.  I'm looking forward to working with ya'll at future Appleseed shoots!

What can I say?  I love my work here at Appleseed!  Scout has always said that you meet the best folks at Appleseeds, this Shoot was no exception.

:---
I can see the the bullet impacts on your target and so can you, but can you understand what they are telling you?  Targets talk, but it takes EyeQ to understand what they are saying.  Appleseed taught it to me and now I want to teach it to you.

POP

Thank you, Tommy, for taking up some slack for me.  And, Everett and Mark, thank you making the trip with Tommy.

Everett was Corpus Christi's 2nd or 3rd Rifleman.  Josiah  was the 1st.  Now we have seven.

And, Everett, you said "Unfortunately, what I thought was allergies turned out to be a nasty cold.  Hope I didn't spread it to anyone... "  But, that's not a cold you have.  That's just a mild manifestation of what you picked up out in Pecos, No?   **)

To White House and the other attendees, thank you.  Ya'll are really what makes the difference.  I look forward to seeing you there this Fall.

Bob, TJ, great shooting and I look forward to working a shoot with you, too.

And, finally, Thank you Josiah for all you have done to help make this event a success.  Without you, Hunter, your dad, Grampa Fred, and MOM and the girls, ... just shows that families make the difference.

See Ya'll on the trail.

Well at last I found this forum!  This getting old is getting old!  First of all, my appreciation to my instructors this shoot.  Pop you were missed 'cause I was the oldest one by default.  Josiah, my thanks for calling me and extending the invite.  BTW, I am still nursing blisters on my elbows and sore knees from dropping down to the mat.  I always enjoy myself when attending these shoots and I always walk away with new friends and confidence with my firearm skills.  Yes, this was the shoot where I earned my Rifleman patch (Pop, I believe that beats your attempts by a few!!).  The weather was right and I didn't get fatigued like the last two times I shot in hot Texas weather.  It warmed my heart to see families out and I must say they were a delight to behold.  They are what I think is so important in today's society, exposing their children to correct history and embracing our heritage for our country's constitutional rights. I look forward to becoming more involved with Appleseed and again, what a great group of people to be a part of the family with.  Bob
