Sweet Winterseed at Burlington Flats, NY

There was Snow and Mud and Wind on first day, temps 45 above zero, no winterseed patch awarded,,, BUT,,, that did not stop our youngest 3 time Appleseeder Ethan (14yrs old)on the line from finding the Road to Rifleman, he did it with a 213, but he did not stop there, he proceeded to repeat rifleman scores for the rest of the afternoon and on into sunday as well, not only that the score kept increasing,,, This Young Man has determination and perseverance that is unsurpassed, A Joy to have on the line,,,Just an Outstanding Job He Did, Plus there was his Father shooting right along side him for all 3 three Appleseeds as well, Very Happy Son and a Proud Father, But the Rifleman Corp was again Increased with the addition of his father Dave as well, for on sunday he shot Rifleman with a score of 229,

The Rifleman Groove was capture at The Flats this weekend, and on sunday the temps dropped all day long, and yes we were Tracking,,, When Dave earned his patch it was cold, snow, and high winds, wind chill was close to 0 to 5 above, The winds were better than 25 to 30 mph all day long from early on sunday thru out the day, more clothes had to be put on to ward off the cold,,,

But the Road to Rifleman was not done being traveled upon just yet,, NO SIR,,, Patrick,,, one of our club officers put on paper a score of 219,,, He was a 1st Time Appleseeder and a sunday walk on as well, but again, in true Rifleman standards his scores kept improving for the rest of the day as well,,,

Well By-Golly that is something to have 3 rifleman with a line of 8 total for the weekend isn't it,,,,,,not bad at all,,,,,,,,, BUT,,,, Check out the next line down,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The NorthEast is a Tough Bunch of New Englanders and Great Americans to say the least,,,,,, Because we did not stop there NO SIR,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A Young Man who's name is Dan,,, (2 time Appleseeder) and, who is the Cousin to Ethan and Nephew to Dave shot a Rifleman Score of 210, Soooooooo!!!! In true New England style, he received a cool (COLD) dose of North Bridge Water, which in fact was taken from the river at the North Bridge on 19 MAR 2009, and given to me by my friend and Shoot Boss from Ohio and formerly from New York,,, who coincidentally goes by the screen name of NorthBridgeWater,,,,,, That my friends is Pure Appleseed in one of its finest moments up here in the Great NorthEast, This was a Great Day for our country Indeed,,,,

Well,,,,,,,,,,,, guess what folks, it does not stop there either,,, Really You Don't Say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Really, this group was so in the Bubble, that a locomotive would not have been able to burst it,,,,,, No SIR,,,

Then We have Allen,,, A Rifleman from Vermont who drove the furthest 3.5-4 hrs away, with quite a few Appleseeds under his belt, again showed what he was all about, with rifleman scores again on a new range for him, proves that he can perform under any conditions and location,,, And is welcome at any and all shoots that I will be at, again a pleasure to have on the line,,,

Again folks it did not stop there Eitherrrrrrr

With another 1st Time Appleseeder, His name is Mike,,,, Brand new rifle, no auto bolt release, he learned the fundamentals on it,,,,, and then was offered the use of the Lucky rifle, which was used by Ethan to shoot his score, and his Father to shoot his,,,,,, Well,,,, it was a match made, in again, true Rifleman style,,, He settled in on the road to Rifleman and shot a 215 on the Last,, I said,,, Last  AQT of the weekend,,,,From his first AQT this weekend, his targets improve everytime, shot by shot he climbed that Mountain, and when he reached the threshold to the summit, He plateaued at 205, then the lucky rifle came into his possession and thrust him into The Rifleman Corps,,, His new found friends were there, to witness this mans proud moment,,,This Man has attitude that is sooooo Rifleman, endeavor to persevere,,, in other words cool, calm, collected,,,, and most of all applied the fundamentals and worked it,,,,

So how many Riflemen did we gain 5 NEW RIFLEMEN and A Dedicated Repeat Rifleman,,,,, ===== 6 (Six) is the answer at Burlington Flats New York,,, That sounds like New Englanders to me,,,,

All joking aside,,,, It was in deed my pleasure to have the honor, to serve these fine Americans this weekend at Burlington Flats, New York Winterseed,,, I am sure the line will be full come April, For our True Patriots Day Signature Shoot,,,,

I am tired so I will leave some room for others add here, I will be back to add later,,, I will try to get photos up tonight

Thanks Again for the Privilege to serve,,,

I would like to Thank My Home Range, Burlington Flats Fish and Game Club, for hosting Project Appleseed Shoots, with the amenities that are here, it is a very nice place to be, central New York is nice this time of year,,,

If you are in this neck of the woods drop by and have a shoot, make some new friends

To my fellow Instructors this would not have been the shoot it turned out to be without you folks,,,, Instructors drove up to 1.75hrs away which isn't too bad, for we are located in Central NY, easy driving times from just about anywhere,,,

The Mrs,,, made a dandy breakfast for sunday morning, And is well on her way to become an instructor of quality

Another D.O.M.,,, well without him I would be lost, I believe he is the right hand man that will be at any shoot in this state for any Instructor, yes, he knows very well what he is about,

Charlie Girl,,, (15) New York's youngest Lady Instructor is still here, and always with a smile, she is a great asset not only to Appleseed but to our range as well, because,,,, (She Only Lives Up The Road) Great job this weekend teaching and counting the up scores,,,

vibbit,,,, from around the Syracuse area, drove out to lend a hand on the line as well, applied some good teachings to get these great Americans to the Rifleman Corps, Thank You,,,

And LittleMo,,, I keep forgetting to ask him how he got that name, he is taller than I am, maybe I dare not ask, great job this weekend my friend,,,

Odin,,, a Fantastic job with history running the line, instructing, The History was exceptional, he will be an excellent RedHat in the very near future,,, Thank You so much

Man how could I have forgotten this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ethan our youngest shooter, that rifleman score he shot was on the 1st (First) AQT of the weekend with 2 Appleseeds before this shoot he really applied his knowledge, I think the weather does help too, when it is, what some people would say BAD, we here call it, shootin weather, Great Job again, oh and Ethan also shoots the Junior Rifle Course that this club does every year for 18 weeks, and he shoots the pistol league too,,, an avid shooter to say the least,,,, I think he's hooked,,,,

I will add more later must get sleep

This was a really great shoot,,,,Saturdays weather was really a perfect day to be on a range for some people if they want to play games, but for learning to get into that bubble, and staying there, a little inclement weather does the trick, they have to really apply everything we teach and stay focused,,, These great people ,friends, did that,,,,

To balance out the total of 8 shooters were Ryan who was the brother to Dan, he is a Rifleman waiting in the wings by only 10 points, because his targets were at 190's and 200's by sunday afternoon and staying consistant,,, he'll be back to join his brother and cousin and uncle to the Rifleman Corps, he has got a prone position to be envied, he can get so low to the ground, you would think he was David Tubb on the line,,,, I will learn to get more pictures at these shoots,,, the camera thing has never been my fortay,,, next time,,,,,

Then we have a young Man that is serving our country,,, Dale,, and will be going back to the sand box shortly for another deployment, He will be  taking our words to heart and placing them in the 10 ring,,,
He could only do one day, which was Saturday, but he, like everyone else took all the info, That will serve him and our country, and keep him safe till he returns home,,,, He like all that the Patriots at this shoot did a beautiful job, he will be welcome back to this line anytime, he was  consistent at 200 point level several times on Saturday we see him again I'm sure,,,,

What got our attention from the First Squares Target was that everyone of these shooters were shooting no Bigger than 6-8 MOA with a few flyers,, they all from the start, were right on target,,, and very well, the only thing that needs to be forgot about is the time monkey, they all said that is only thing that is a bothersome aspect, other than that, all of these guys, can do what is needed, I cannot wait for the next shoot,

The shooting comunity is alive and well in Central New York,,, Plus they know Now who gave them the opportunity to have this freedom, our Founding Fathers,,,,

I still think the weather was a little too nice; I was hopping for a blizzard.  Sunday the weather improved just a little.

The shooters made this Appleseed a joy to work.  I hope to see them all on the line again.  Even 2:30 on Sunday when a lot of shooters get fatigued and need a break from the AQT grind, these shooters remained focused and kept smiling.  Throughout the entire weekend all I saw were smiles on their faces.  I believe Ethan shot a 221 before loaning out his rifle to David (his dad) and then Mike.  Those who didn't make riflemen were right on the door and will be there soon.

I think Pat said it best:  "This looks easy, but its not".

My fellow instructors:  It was a pleasure working with you.  Keep up the good work.

Nice Job Burlington Flats.

I'll agree....What do you have to do to earn a "Winterseed Patch" at BF?
Sounds like a very "Hardcore Group" you had there Stoner.

Knowing sgtrock he scared them into making the score ~~:).

Well done BF.....Very well done!

Congrats to all involved.

Stoner, now that you've got them "Hardcore" I think they're ready for Calverton!  &)

Hope that snow is gone before the May RBC, planning on attending.

The snow that is here will be gone,,, not saying it won't snow then, it will still be early spring, not by the calender, but by the way it is around here, we have gotten snow in late may early june in years past,,,,

Got here at last. What a weekend. Cold and wind and rain and snow and mud and slush .. .. .. Perfect!

It was like being on the steppes, now I know how the Germans felt in Russia.

Definitely a hardy crew.

Despite the gnarly weather it was business as usual, an Appleseed is an Appleseed.

Warming up with History

Stoner .. .. .. in fact I did not shoot a rifleman score, I thought I had a double in the 5 sitting but the IT scorers thought not; makes me wonder where the fifth round went.

All in all an excellent couple days. From the start shooting tight groups, All my targets were over 200, after a long winter hiatus I can't complain.

Hey Alan

Nice pictures,,,,
I thought I saw a rifleman score on one of your targets, didn't know it'd been rechecked,,, Well scores are not everything, its being who you are, and endearing what is perceived as hard to do, (by some),, and overcoming the elements to make it happen,,, Dealing with adversity as in weather is only the start,,, you have it in yourself to get the job done,, that's all that matters,,
Great to have you the line, hope to see you soon,,,
