Missed it by a day; 10 January is anniversary of Tom Paine's anonymous publication of his pamphlet, "Common Sense."
Author listed as "written by an Englsihman."  Said by historian Gordon S. Wood as "the most incendiary and popular pamphlet of the entire Revolutionary era."
Have to look backward to look forward.
