A light turn out for a mid Summer event in Florida. We fooled them though. Cloudy skies and a consistent breeze kept the conditions close to tolerable for the weekend.

Sue and her son,Tim showed that they have what it takes as they stuck out two days of instruction and displayed the dramatic improvement we so often observe in neophyte shooters.

William, the editor of the Sportmen's Gazette, and a long time competitive shooter, shot some very fine groups with both his AR and a sweet Ruger outfitted with Williams target sights. Alas his duties as reporter pulled him away from the line during the AQT Grind and the sought after Rifleman's badge eluded him this time.

Reagan returned after allowing her broken thumb to heal a little more. She sat out most of her last Appleseed in March because the thumb was still a bit sore. Reagan  is a delightful young lady, with her mom and dad both Orange Hat instructors. The quality of the young people I meet at Appleseed events always impresses me. These people are truly the leaders of tomorrow. She is making steady progress towards her Rifleman's patch.

Thaifighter cut watermelon for the attendees and instructors Saturday afternoon helping to keep us all appropriately moist on the inside.

After the range had closed Saturday evening, a Florida Panther was spotted and photographed lurking about. No doubt seeking a young shoat for a nice pulled pork sandwich. Deer, hogs swallow tailed kites and redtailed hawks are common sights at the range, this is the first time I've heard of the rare Florida panther being seen there.

Taken as a whole, a swell time. Thanks to the instructors and attendees that made this event possible. Special thanks to BrownBess, without his support I wouldn't be able to shoot boss any better than a cross eyed armadillo.
We are but human.

George Foreman spoke, and a few of the instructors got to shake his hand, and learned first hand why this rifle is named George Foreman.

What a nation has done, a nation can aspire to.
Dr. Jerry Pournelle

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
