Beautiful day at a GREAT location for an Appleseed.

Had an impressive volley fire.

Only got to do one fully official AQT but made 2 Riflemen. This out of about 40 shooters. We have at least 4 possibly 6 who will make it tomorrow.

We had 6 more make Rifleman today! A husband/wife team accepted Orange Hats!

My IIT's performed fabulously! You young folks motivate and encourage the shooters more than you know.

This shoot was my second Appleseed. The first was in Maynardville, TN back on Nov. 7-8, 2009.

I didn't shoot a rifleman's score at that first shoot, missed it by 1 point. I wasn't entirely disappointed though, I learned more in those two days than I had in the 35 years of shooting prior to that weekend. I left with the determination that I would take what I had learned, practice it, and improve. Most memorable though, I learned a valuable lesson in our nation's history.

I spent time this past cold and snowy winter reading "The Minutemen: The First Fight: Myths and Realities of the American Revolution" by John R. Galvin, and dry firing at 1/4" black squares posted 20 feet away across the house. I found my NPOA doing that, got comfortable in the various positions, practiced firing by the numbers, with both eyes open, and without dragging wood. It paid off. I walked away from this shoot with a rifleman's patch, proving again that the instruction works. I learned a few new tips at the recent Kingsport shoot (you never stop learning!), and I discovered a bad habit or two still lurking.

Anyway, enuf blabberin'. I'd like to give a huge thanks to the Instructor and the IITs for their outstanding effort at another great Appleseed! I'm also honored to join the ranks of those who take the time to pass on the history and your knowledge of marksmanship to others. I'll wear this ugly orange hat with pride.
