We so far we have been safe and having fun. We have a few that have attended an Appleseed before. Every rifle but 2 were set up with a GI web sling, this group came prepared. We had one 206 on the AQT today and some others that were showing great promise. We will polish on what we learned yesterday and persevere. The Volley for Liberty went off well yesterday. I think the favorite thing was the cards, they were well received and brought a different sense to the history.I will post some pics this evening.

We will be giving away the rifle today too.

Another beautiful day in KY. Sunshine and about 60 with a little breeze. We started off the chilly morning with a Sunday morning bible and history lesson provided by kyjam and it was great how she spoke of the inspiration the church had in forming our country. Really a good lesson for all who attended for sure. A very personal review of positions, NPOA, 6 steps a longer discussion on seated positions and the variation and how they could work  for each. I believe this helped our groups seated scores to rise. Thought we were going to just have about 8 shooters Sunday but after church they started rolling in. The Redcoat showed good improvement over saturday. A sheet of squares and review of IMC and we broke out the first AQT about 10:45. Then one more before lunch and another very inspirational story of the wedding that never happened by kyjam again. I cannot wait to hear her tell the 3 strikes someday soon. Me and brdholman did some DOM and then back to shooting the AQT grind and we had a previous Riflewoman my wife shoot a 212 with my AR. Followed by Todd with a 214. Then we got my wife to calling the line and put an orange hat on her I believe this was directly related to kyjams story at lunch. She had attended 5 or 6 Appleseeds before and always said no way before until this weekend. We took a little break and handed out t-shirts and patriot patches drew for the remaining items to be given away. A youth won the Rifle provided by Knob Creek Range and stock provided by Christie and Christie. But he gave me a bad phone # So if you read this Jacob send me a PM with your phone #. The cards provided by Riflewoman were great and we all liked them a lot.
After the break we did 2 more back to back AQTs and produced 2 more Riflemen Steve and Chris. Then Steve decided to take on the orange hat. So we have made 3 IITs in the past 2 weeks here in KY. That is great. We also made a couple good BOTG contacts with Nightowl and Kevin. These guys will be a great asset we can use in the area.
Thank you very much for a very enjoyable and remember able April 17-18 weekend at Knob Creek.  Instructors and shooters alike,  you guys and gals make the job of Shoot Boss fun.

I have a bunch of pictores

That would be him!  Tell Jacob congrats!

What a beautiful weekend!  Can't think of a better place to start out my 2010 Appleseed trail.

I love to see such diverse firing lines.  Men, women, youngin's. It was a blessing to have so many families and so many teachable attitudes.  Your patriotism and enthusiasm made it a great weekend.

Kudos go out to the new Riflemen and repeating Riflewoman.  ^:)^  You guys got in the groove and persevered.  And to Mackenzie.  At 10 years old, with a way too big 795, she scored Marksman...twice!  Her dad, Todd (Rifleman), was extremely proud.

I recognized Luke and Jacob from previous KC shoots and that was really cool.  Keep up the good work, guys and keep making your parents bring you.
Donna and Rita, I had so much fun with you.  I hope to see Donna May 22 in Cloverdale.
Niteowl and Garandame, very nice to see you two patriots from my first AS.  Can't believe it's been a year already.
Steve, looking forward to working with you.  You are teachable and that will make you a great IIT.
Sindy, I'm excited there's another husband/wife team and we get to work with you guys.  Whoo hoo!  You did great grinding the grind!

Thanks to Mudcat for handing me a story that vividly brought the sacrifice to life for me.

Congrats to the instructors on their promotions!  Riflegirl, you called the line very well, nice to hear you yell.  Brad, you always do a great job with history.  Your voice is perfect for it, making everyone feel right at home.

One thing about a husband/wife team, i think he has brought something, and he thinks i have.  The one thing I didn't check, I thought was in his tub - the camera. :(  I took pictures with Mudcat's so he should have plenty.  Steve got some shots, too.  Post 'em boys!

OK here they are. I of course will only post my good side.

Here are the Red Coat targets from the Volley for Victory. What a great crew.

Here is the newest Red Hat. oh that is brdholman under it too.

Here is a picture of 2 of our newest Riflemen before they were. Steve and Chris.

Time for an after lunch story.

How about a little standing steady hold factors. Are you trying to catch flies?? ;D

A little Riflemans dance perhaps?

The line.

3 of our newest Riflemen and Riflewoman.

The other new Rifleman. We found out his score a little after the others.

Just fyi, that is a dummy rifle I'm holding, so no safety violations. :D  But it's too dog gone heavy.  Gees, Mudcat, give a girl a break.

Another very productive Appleseed. Great group of people to work with. The cards were very cool and should be a part of every Appleseed.  Riflemen were made, but more importantly new patriots were made and old ones revived. Ky also picked up a couple of much needed IITs. What more could an Appleseeder ask for?

Trainer8119

My first post.  Great weekend.  Great instructors.  I brought my buddy Chris to shoot and shoot he did.  His first Appleseed and he scored Rifleman with a 217.  It took me two.
My predictions came true.
1) You will be exhausted.
2) The instructors will be excellent, listen and you will learn a lot.
3) You will make rifleman.
So I took the 7th step by bringing Chris.  He called his wife on the way home and is working on 7th step with her.
Now looking forward to IIT, I have some great role models to learn from.
Thanks to Mudcat, kyjam, brdholman(Brad), Sindy and riflegirl

Thank  you Mudcat for another great weekend of shooting. I had
a great time and my sister did also, even if she didn't shoot that
that much. Thank you Kyjam for helping me and working with me.
I did learn a lot from you which I am going to be working on while
shooting here at home. Thank you Amber for always being there for
"Granny"(getting my target and helping me get up @ times). Brad,
I was told by Mudcat that you were a good instructor and he was
right.  You are also a natural "storyteller." Sindy, I think you did a
great job on the line Sunday. (you do have the voice for it)  The
orange hat fit you good.  I hope you continue to wear it.
I enjoyed meeting all the other shooters.  They were a great bunch
as there always is @ the Appleseed shoots.  Congratulations to those
who made Riflemen.  Good job. Kyjam, I will see you @ Cloverdale!

yellowhousejake

Biogranny!  How did we do? Scores getting higher?  I hope to see you wearing a Rifleman patch at Carmi, if not, you will be my special project in July  O0

Glad to see you still on the trail and still smiling, you are a shining example of persistence.

I have removed my email from my profile to stop the mod reports. If you need a Libertyseed scheduled you will now have to contact me on the Libertyseed forum.

Yellowhouse Jake,  no I haven't made Rifleman yet, but maybe
someday soon.  I am going to keep trying.  I will be @ Carmi.
It will be good to have you help me.  You are a good instructor.
I am going to keep a positive attitude and try to keep smiling.

Still excited after last weekend.  And guess what?  Right here in our county is a primary US Senate debate!  Both of us and our daughter will be going to get more educated and involved with the vote.  Thank you to Appleseed for continuing to inspire our family.  O0

I know this is a little late but I had some problems registering for an account. When my buddy Steve first told me about Appleseed I was curious to say the least so I agreed to go. I do not really have any rifle experience but have shot pistol in the past. I figured it would be a lot of fun and that I would make rifleman with no trouble at all. I mean come on the target isn't even that far away...boy was I ever wrong.

I didn't have fun I had a freaking blast. Then on the topic of making Riflemen...yeah not as easy as I had thought it was going to be. If it hadn't been for the great instructors during the weekend there is no chance I could have made it. So thanks to Mudcat for helping me with my breathing during the shot, thanks to Kyjam and Brad for getting on to me about dragging wood on my trigger squeeze, and also Kyjam for showing me how to lay the rifle across the life line of my palm instead of squeezing it with my hand.  I would also like to thank Riflegirl for helping me clear a jam in my rifle. Thanks to all the instructors for being very patient and teaching shot steps clearly. Then just one big thank you to all the instructors for being there to put on the Appleseed. Then a thank you to Steve for bringing me along and letting me use his rifle. Then for also working with me even since the Appleseed. Steve will be a great asset to the instructor corps.

I have to say what impressed me most about the Appleseed was that it wasn't just about shooting. I really liked how the history of our nation was tied into it. Everyone did a superb job with the stories they were assigned. The one that still stands out in my mind is the one Brad told. He has a natural talent for being a great story teller.

Even if I had not won the certificate for a free Appleseed I will definitely be going to more. In fact, I'm already trying to complete the 7th step. I think I may have my wife talked into coming to one. I've also offered a guy at work my certificate if he agrees to go with me. Anyways, again I really enjoyed the Appleseed and the great people I was able to meet from it. I look foreward to seeing you all again and meeting new fellow patriots next time. Now since I'm a Riflemen I need to get a rifle before the next Appleseed. :) I'm hooked.  ^:)^

kentuckyjam

Whoo hoo!  I'm so excited to hear your enthusiasm and that your experience was a true AS experience.  You are definitely 7th stepping.  Tell your wife about the other ladies there and I'll try to let you know which June AS I'll be at so she'll have some female instructor time. ;)  That is awesome you're giving your certificate away to get someone else there.  Something tells me you'll be wearing an orange hat soon.

Thanks for posting.  Students like you are what make this program so rewarding!
